Quick question for anyone in the loop: can you link a Wise USD bank account to a PayPal account registered here in the States?

I actually did a quick test run recently by transferring funds from PayPal to Wise just to see how it would work.![]()
To be honest, I don't use this method very often because I don't deal with much dollar-denominated business. Plus, when using my local PayPal, you can only move dollars directly to that US Wise account. If I had to convert Euros into Dollars first—especially with those terrible PayPal exchange rates—just to send them over, only to convert them right back into Euros or Dollars once they arrive? That would be a massive waste of money. If you're primarily working with Euros, wouldn't it make more sense to just open a PayPal account within the European Union? You can simply link an IBAN—whether it's from a major US bank, Chime, or any other provider—and the money arrives without any extra fees. 🙂 Of course, you really need a valid address in that region to avoid any issues with your account being flagged.

Apparently, banks don't permit direct foreign currency deposits within the US, so I'm wondering if this might serve as a straightforward workaround.

Is it even legally possible for a business entity to deposit USD to an individual in the US?
Does Wise support transferring USD in the US?
By the way, US banks permit foreign currency transfers domestically, but only if you're moving funds between your own accounts or to an account where you're a designated representative. That's what the federal currency laws dictate. 👎
