Does anyone know if there’s an actual directory for sole proprietorships in the US? I’m trying to track down some contact info for them, but every search just brings up application forms to start a business or news articles about them.

The way I found the specific family farms that actually had useful info was just by Googling whatever niche I was interested in—you know, things like olive groves, mountain ranching, goat farming, rural tourism, and so on—and then stumbling upon a name in an article. Once you have a name, finding an address or a phone number isn't much of a hurdle.

In my own neck of the woods, I just used the Secretary of State Business Search. You can pull up the business name there, and from there, tracking down the owner is pretty straightforward.

There are several Family Farms listed on neighboring islands, yet under the Mena section, there isn't a single one!

What kind of question is that?

The answer to this thread is pretty simple: there isn't any single database for Family Farms. All we have are these segmented chunks of data that you guys keep confirming using different sources.

But how many of them actually produce anything?

If someone is looking for a Family Farm, what's their goal? Are they hunting for specific crops or livestock they can buy directly, or are they just looking for a registration that isn't actually doing any real business?

Family Farms have various setups—some operate as small agricultural businesses, some under individual tax IDs, and others function more like LLCs or sole proprietorships.

A Family Farm's business ID is an eight-digit number starting with 50, whereas a sole proprietorship registered as an agricultural business starts with 9x.

Those databases definitely exist.

The real question is what you're after: do you want the contact info for a working farm where you can actually go buy some oranges right now,

or are you just looking for a name on a list of people who signed up solely to chase government subsidies?

Besides, businesses and trading companies registered as PG also offer goods from the local Family Farms that act as their partners
