Hey there! I was wondering if anyone could point me toward a Windows 10 download that features the most recent version available? My goal is to find an installation that’s pretty much up to date right out of the box, so I don't end up stuck in a loop of doing a hundred different updates immediately after finishing the setup. I still have my old installation DVD floating around, but that’s from back when Windows 10 first launched, so it's definitely outdated. Ideally, I'd love to just grab the files, burn them to a drive, run the install, pop in my product key, and maybe only have to deal with one or two minor patches.

Honestly, for the sake of your security and making sure everything actually works right, stick strictly to Microsoft's official sites. Avoid any other random links because you're way more likely to end up with malware infecting your system.

Look, man, I'm telling you—that link on the page points straight to Microsoft servers.

Why even bother risking it all on some random third-party site when you can just go straight to the source? It’s way more chill knowing there’s zero chance of running into malware.
That’s exactly why I haven't picked up a single virus or even some annoying junkware in five years.

I mean, if you’re already planning on doing a full reinstall of Windows 10 anyway, then I suppose you shouldn't really worry about malware at all,🤔

you could just run a format C: /U and everything would be perfectly fine again.😁

Where would I even get the idea that I'm doing a reinstall?
I mean, I've never had any reason to go that route with my PC, and honestly, I don't see that happening anytime soon. 😁

And honestly, you should probably be looking at some kind of stripped-down, custom version. The original Windows 10 is just absolutely bloated with bloatware and useless junk. 😉

Well, if you aren't planning on doing a clean reinstall, then I suppose there isn't much point in downloading them 🤣

And I also think what Karen Doyle72 mentioned is quite valid—Windows usually comes with all sorts of pre-installed bloatware and malware anyway, so it might actually be better to just go with a custom installation 👍

- I grab the latest version as soon as it drops (you can see that in my reasoning in the first post). That way, when I'm setting up Windows 10 for someone else, I don't have to sit there forever waiting for a mountain of updates to finish.

- As for that "malware" thing you're saying about Windows 10... I sorted my own setup out ages ago, so I don't deal with any of those issues.😁

Give me a break. With a "custom" build, all you really have is the compiler's "honor system" promising the image is what it says it is.
Think about it. You aren't downloading some ancient stone tablet carved in granite that stays perfect forever. You're downloading freaking Windows 10 where updates are basically mandatory, and those cumulative patches are probably harder to track than three different source codes.

Basically, you think you’ve got this "guaranteed" clean, tailored setup, but then who knows what Microsoft sneaks into an update? They could push ten times more junk through there in a heartbeat...

If you want that theory to actually work, your only option is to install the "custom" version, pray to God that the apps you need don't demand an upgrade, and once everything is set, just rip the Ethernet cord out and never connect to the internet again. Being offline for life is the only way you can truly guarantee you actually have what you think you have...

Man, why don't you just teach us how it's done then?
Because honestly, we’re out here busting our tails every single day, and for what? It feels like everything we do is just a total waste of time. 😁

Basically, what the poet is trying to say is 🤔

Who even cares about the updates? Updates aren't really the issue here.

The real headache is the telemetry and all that bloatware.

I'd give it a five out of ten. Sure, some people love custom builds, but wouldn't it be fair to at least mention the "alternative"—you know, the original version?

... where a user can actually step in and fix those things themselves.
Especially if you grab a clean image instead of using that "suggested" one from the media creation tool, where Microsoft basically decides how to customize everything for you...

Maybe it's just me: I'm not a fan of that whole next->next->finish installation style. I don't mind clicking through a few settings during setup if they actually ask nicely...

But honestly, I don't think it's quite that simple. You're dealing with a massive amount of registry tweaks, Group Policy settings, various services, and so on. You really need to know exactly what you're doing, and you'll likely need to spend several hours hunting down third-party tools and scripts if you want to tailor everything perfectly to your own specific taste.

That being said, if you happen to find a group of people you truly trust—people who definitely know their stuff—then it might be much easier to just download an ISO they've already put together.

Yeah, but it’s definitely not a "few hours" job—you need years of experience just to wrap your head around half this stuff, which is why most people don't even bother. 😁
But wait, aren't links to those ready-to-go, homemade ISOs actually banned on MyDigitalLife?
I mean, sure, there are tons of tools out there to build your own custom images—and I use them all the time—but posting links to a pre-modded ISO? No way, man. Absolutely not.

Well, I guess what 😛

If you actually know what you're doing, I was thinking it should only take you a few extra hours to get everything properly configured, 👍

Exactly. Though, if you ask nicely, you might just find someone willing to share a link. That’s pretty much how things work here on this forum.

By the way, if I was capable of flashing a custom BIOS on a PC worth over $2,000, then I feel like I can certainly handle custom Windows too! 😁
