How to get a therapist covered by insurance?

Just like the title says:
is there any way to get a referral from a doctor so I don't have to shell out cash at a private clinic?

Well, technically, yes, you can 🙂.

I’ve actually already gone through seven sessions with my own psychologist 🙂.

You just head over to your primary care physician—and honestly, it doesn't even have to be your regular doctor—and ask them for a referral to a psychologist. Simple as that!

You're looking for a way to use an insurance referral to see a private practitioner without having to foot the bill yourself, right?

From what I understand, that isn't really how the system works here in the States.

Anything strictly private usually requires payment—though, in my experience, "private" doesn't always mean "better"...

Yeah, a referral so I don't have to pay out of pocket.
I heard there's some way to pull that off.
