I’ve been wrestling with this one for quite a while now.
What defines a "bitch"?
Why is it considered such a negative trait when a woman refuses to be walked all over and simply speaks her mind about what bothers her?
Apparently, wanting the best for yourself is "bad" because you're supposed to just settle for whatever comes your way.
I’m single and don't have kids, and people in my town love to rub it in my face, acting like I'm somehow "above everyone else" just because I haven't tied myself down yet. They act like choice is an illusion. My response? I don't care about anyone else's business, and I certainly don't live my life according to their rules. I'll marry when I find the right person. I definitely won't settle for someone I don't actually like. To be honest, I also know deep down that I don't have much to offer right now—people have really hammered that idea into my head—but I refuse to look for a partner until I have my career and my own stability figured out.
How do I move past this constant belittling?
How do you all define a "bitch"?
Even my brother called me one, but honestly, he isn't exactly the gold standard for relationship advice given his own track record, so I won't bother addressing his specific opinion.
Do we really live in a society where women who aren't married are viewed as "lesser," giving everyone the right to shame them? Do we truly have no agency in our own lives?
The age-old question.
I wouldn't go so far as to say it applies universally, though it is easy to cast such labels. There is a distinction between fighting for one's rights and merely indulging one's impulses. The real issue is the arbiter—who is doing the labeling? Ultimately, the critic matters very little. If your intentions are honorable and you speak your truth directly, that is a virtue. It shows a lack of surrender.😁
Regarding family and children, there is no biological or social deadline, whether you are in your 20s or your 40s. Many exceptional women choose to remain single, often possessing remarkable cognitive or creative talents. It is a historical constant that those who deviate from the norm face discrimination. This applies to everyone deemed "lesser" or "greater" by the collective.
I have encountered plenty of "top-tier" bitches; they even find their way into politics... which is predictable.
They may lack character, but they possess status.
