Greetings...

My mother recently relocated to Sweden to take advantage of a new job opportunity that allows her to earn an income. While the earnings aren't exactly life-changing, the situation has created quite a dilemma for her...

To be precise, she began receiving her full retirement benefits here in the States a few years ago... $333 There are certain things one simply cannot hope to survive...
Now they are feeling quite anxious about which specific laws might be violated if they accept that position while abroad, rather than simply notifying the Social Security Administration here in the States...

Could someone please clarify exactly what this is about? I would truly appreciate some additional context...
What would the consequences be if one decided to remain silent regarding an overseas job opportunity...
And what are the actual odds of being caught if one chooses to remain silent?...

What I truly find puzzling is why anyone would be forbidden from working once they have reached retirement age. Engaging in additional employment doesn't seem to cause any harm to the government... whether that work is performed within the country where one receives their pension, or, as is the case here, while working abroad in another nation...

I am truly grateful for any advice or information you might be able to share...
