I wouldn't call myself lazy, per se, but I have this one issue that definitely looks like laziness: I am terrible at actually starting things. I procrastinate on everything—from my actual responsibilities to the stuff I actually enjoy doing.
To give you an idea of what I mean, let me throw out a few examples. For instance, getting to the gym or heading out for a run is a massive struggle, even though I love working out and feel great afterward. Once I finally get moving, I’m consistent every single day, until I take a break longer than maybe two or three days. Then? I'm right back to square one, staring at my running shoes like they're a mountain I have to climb.
It was the same thing recently when I had to head out to my family's place in upstate New York to handle a few quick errands. I put it off for three whole weeks. But once I finally pulled into the driveway and got started, I ended up staying for hours and knocking out a bunch of other chores I wasn't even supposed to touch. Or look at cleaning the oven: a few days ago, I just wanted to scrub the oven, but once I started, I ended up deep-cleaning the entire kitchen, the hallway, and the guest bathroom.
I don't really get why I'm stuck like this. Every time something needs to be done, I feel this intense internal pressure, and my subconscious just tries to dodge the task for as long as possible. It isn't even that the tasks are hard or time-consuming. Honestly, as soon as I actually start, the pressure vanishes and the work feels easy. But that first step? That’s where I always hit a wall.
P.S. I've been planning to post this on the forum for ten days now. Ten days of stalling. I finally forced myself to actually do it.
