Honestly, I’m kind of tempted to just go scorched earth and cause a massive scene.
On the flip side, there's only four working days left until this whole thing is over.
I can't tell if even bothering to react right now is worth the energy.
Actually, it just hit meβ€”next school year, when I'm filling out those famous parental consent forms, I might just hand-write a note explicitly banning any audio, video, or printed materials with religious themes.

I’d probably mention 😁
at the first parent-teacher conference.

The first parent-teacher conference isn't until sophomore year.
So basically, just push it off until then.
Man, I honestly can't decide if that's a good call or not. It feels like such a long way out just to bring this up at a meeting.
I mean, the teacher can't really do anything about it anyway. I'd have to take it up with the private tutor directly, and if I'm being real, I’ve got a few other things I’d want to throw at her too.

I’m not even bothering with an email.
I want to look them dead in the eye and say, out loud, that this is total bullshit and I’ll walk out on the spot if things don't change.
But then again, we're talking about a four-day work week here... does any of this even matter anymore?
Whatever, they'll probably just throw two or three small concessions my way to shut me up.

What do you mean the teacher can't do anything? How did the kids end up wandering off onto the field?πŸ˜•

Look, let’s be realβ€”they didn't just "get lost." They were basically invited over.
I honestly have no clue what the standard procedure is for this kind of thing.
See, if the school's policy allows for "guesting" in a class you wouldn't normally takeβ€”like an elective you aren't enrolled inβ€”then my complaint is pretty much dead in the water. It’s not really "attending" a class at that point; it's more like dropping in on an elective.
Maybe that's how they handle things like Spanish or Computer Science. I don't know. We're just starting freshman year, so I'm still figuring out how this whole system works.

I'm pretty sure they actually need parental consent before letting kids join a different class.🀷
But honestly, I just got a text saying they're sitting there watching cartoons in Religion class and everyone is getting straight A's! πŸ˜‚

It would honestly make much more sense to invite them over for a little get-together to celebrate one of the holidays together🀷
But wait... I assume they already host plenty of school-wide events, right? 🀣
So, what's the point of them dropping by during the short period when the kids are having religion class, unless the teacher or whoever is supervising just needed a quick break from something else? πŸ€”

The kids were hanging out in the library with the librarian, who basically had nowhere else to be since her entire job is being stuck in that building.
The only way things change is if she’s gone, then the teacher steps in.
Honestly, it blows my mind that neither one was actually there, which is why they supposedly went "visiting" elsewhere.
Something feels seriously off about this. It doesn't just smell fishy; if I were running things, I'd cut ties immediately because this looks like nothing more than propaganda to brainwash the kids for next year.

So, did you actually know they were gonna push it back to that hour, or what?

Nah, I just found out last night. And yeah, that was literally yesterday. Nobody said a word, and there wasn't even a hint of a paper trail to follow.
If I’d had any idea, you really think I’d be sitting here typing this out?

Everyone here knows I’m a fierce opponent of this kind of religious instruction in public schools. My stance is pretty clear: either get rid of it entirely, swap it out for something else, or at least teach something that isn't just straight-up catechism. But I would never, ever let my kid be told that someone else's faith is nothing more than brainwashing. If we take that path, what's actually the difference between us and those religious fundamentalists?

If there's a specific issue, you should pull the teacher aside and give them a polite heads-up immediately.

Look, you can't really escape religious themes in the environment where you live. It’s woven into the entire fabric of our culture and serves as a foundational element in almost all canonical literature.

I know the social climate right now is absolutely toxic, but I honestly think we need to rise above all this garbage.

It’s the same mindset you see from parents who raise their kids to believe they’re headed straight to hell, or from women who act like miscarriages are some kind of high-stakes crime.

Isn't that just straight-up brainwashing?

I missed the two or three messages right before mine.πŸ˜‰

What kind of "consent" are we even talking about here? My kid doesn't start school until the fall, so I'm totally out of the loop on how things work.😁

Honestly, I wouldn't make a huge deal out of it. The little guy isn't traumatized, nothing bad actually happened to him, so what's the big issue?🀷
Just pull the teacher aside once school starts in the fall and let them know you don't want a repeat of this situation.

Well, the goal isn't to upset him,
but rather to have him experience something positive during religion class so he actually asks his parents to sign him up! πŸ˜‰

Look, just take a breath and walk it off. Personally, I’m all for having religion classes in school, but I am totally against these slippery, pushy tactics used to force stuff onto kids that they clearly aren't feeling.
And it's not like the teacher is powerless in this situationβ€”she can actually do a ton if she chooses to, way more than the priest ever could.
Besides, if you don't feel like making a scene at the school right now, you'll have plenty of chances to speak your mind during report card pick-up, or even once the semester wraps up when the principal is around.

I’d probably mention it to both the teacher and the principal to make sure nothing like this happens again. It feels like you’ve already been having some friction with them, so this just felt like the final straw. 😁
A group of our kids once had religious education scheduled, and due to a weird scheduling mix-up, they ended up stuck out in the hallway instead.
This isn't my first time speaking up, but if it happened again, I'd definitely say something.
