I’ve been sitting here pondering a rather unsettling theory: is it actually possible for someone to import invasive pests—think tiger mosquitoes or olive fruit flies—from overseas and release them into our environment just to wipe out local competition? I can't help but wonder if this kind of biological sabotage is more than just a paranoid thought.

Those damn slugs...

A few years back, they weren't even an issue, but this year? They’ve basically wiped out every private garden in the neighborhood.

Is anyone actually out there intentionally importing invasive species? They just slip right in through global trade routes and commercial shipping lanes. And let’s be real—you can't just hold them back behind some artificial national border. Once they hit the ecosystem, they spread everywhere. It would be incredibly idiotic to try and weaponize them for economic leverage when controlling them is basically an impossible task.

We could always look into whether those insects are popping up in our neighboring states too.

Do you seriously think mosquitoes or gnats care about state lines instead of the actual climate?

How exactly do you plan on wiping out the competition without tearing yourself apart in the process? Is it enough to just lean in and whisper 'Don't step on my toes'? 😁

Is there any way to check if those olive fruit flies have moved into our neighboring states where the Mediterranean-style climate reaches? Since olives can only thrive in those specific areas, I'm wondering if they arrived right along with the shift in weather.

But what if there’s already a fly circling "your" territory?
