hey

I was wondering if there's actually anything online that offers a decent breakdown of basic business data for sole proprietorships, similar to how you'd look up an LLC or a corporation through sites like Bloomberg or Dun & Bradstreet...

just for individuals..

thanks

Just head over to the IRS website and check out their publications; you'll find everything you need for freelancers there.

I think the question is whether you can actually see how a specific small business is performing—like, seeing their actual revenue, expenses, and net profit.

That kind of data isn't public.

My bad if I completely missed the mark there. 😁

Sole proprietorships don't have to deal with this—since they aren't required to file public financial reports. But if you're looking at corporations or LLCs, they definitely do, because they're legally obligated to make their numbers public.

Maybe try tracking down who you actually need? If you're looking for a corporation, they might be the ones. Just head over to the Secretary of State website and run a search.

Actually, you won't find that info in the Secretary of State's records; you'd need to look at the GE filings on the Fidelity website instead.

Correction:
They don't actually make public disclosures, they just submit statistical data, so even on the Fidelity site, you won't find anything regarding sole proprietors paying corporate tax.

A sole proprietor like Dobitas isn't even subject to public disclosure requirements.

My bad—I misspoke about the Secretary of State filings. I meant the Finin site.

You can pull records for sole proprietors too, but expect to pay a fee!
