What happens to those of us who struggle with social anxiety, who feel emotionally barricaded and find ourselves unable to even speak? I have always been terribly shy, and I rarely find the words to express myself, perhaps for reasons you all might eventually come to understand.

I can hardly believe I am actually typing this out... there is a part of me that just wants to escape, driven by this overwhelming sense of being trapped within my own shell. When will we finally find a way to truly connect?

Alright, let's aim for Sunday, August 24th.

Maybe sometime in the afternoon, around 4:00 or 4:30?

Let's just meet up at Central Park—it’s where we hung out a couple of weeks ago, right?

See, now we're getting somewhere.
I rarely speak up either—mostly because half the time I don't even make sense. 😁

So, how old is everyone here?

Fair enough. That one year where youth finally meets a grain of sense in the brain. (Or at least it should.)

But honestly, I don't think they should be yapping about it—might get a ban from the chat.

Hmm... yeah... if you guys can get a 99% consensus, I might actually show up... just to see what all the fuss is about.

For me, it's more about those long, awkward pauses where I find myself saying absolutely nothing at all, only to suddenly launch into a flurry of words before abruptly cutting myself off again—it's a bit of an endless loop, really. It can be quite exhausting, both physically and mentally, and to be completely truthful, I often find myself wishing I didn't have to listen to my own rambling, let alone expect anyone else to sit through it. I've certainly had my fair share of awkward social encounters because of it.

Well, I guess you could look at it that way. Age isn't really the point, right? It’s all about having that genuine desire to hang out and connect with people.

I couldn't agree more. Steven Lopez77, just be yourself and leave it at that. Stop letting other people's opinions get under your skin, no matter who they are.

If only it were that simple for me, though I suspect I might actually need to become an entirely different person.

Perhaps before I head out to socialize, I'll indulge in two or three drinks just to see how much my behavior shifts; normally, I rarely touch alcohol, so this will be quite the little experiment for me. 😁
Well, wish me luck, and we shall see how it unfolds!

Where exactly exactly would that take place in Central Park?

Well, let's just play it by ear and see what the thermometer says.

If it starts pouring, we can always duck under a bus shelter.

Though, fingers crossed it stays dry!

Well, that could actually mean more people joining us! 👋 It’s a good thing—more personas means a wider variety of topics and perspectives to dive into. And honestly, don't let social anxiety get the best of you. I'm not exactly the type to jump blindly into a crowd of strangers myself, but it really helps when you feel like you're "among your own people," if you know what I mean. Plus, like Blueberry said, just come as you are. Nobody is going to judge you here. Looking back at some of the nonsense I've posted (and still post!) in this section of the forum, there's certainly no reason to be too embarrassed to step out of the house 🤣. I'm sick of nothing but rain. This summer sucks 😢

Ray, if the broomstick doesn't work, we'll just have to fly on a magic carpet! 🤣

All jokes aside, I am genuinely thrilled to see more people showing interest in getting together. You might be wondering how these meetups actually go. Last time, we all gathered near the thermometer at Central Park, and since there were only three of us, we just grabbed a bench right next to it. A little drizzle threatened to ruin things, so we ducked into a nearby pub. Personally, I love that vibe—just a little slice of nature and such... As far as I'm concerned, we can always bring some blankets and just lounge on the grass. 😁

I'd totally show up, but my social phobia is hitting hard right now—honestly feels like half this sub deals with it too. So, what's the move?

Carl Rivera43 said:So, look, I don't think we need to go deep and get all heavy by listing out our problems. It’s more about just hanging out and chatting about whatever comes up, right?

Maybe we could even try to get a little get-together going this Sunday.

The three of us spent quite a bit of time talking about our private struggles last time. So, if anyone feels the need to vent, please feel free, but there is absolutely no pressure. The conversation usually just flows naturally into everything and anything.

Ethan Mendoza4 said:For real.

Social anxiety isn't really my biggest hurdle anymore—it's mostly faded out. I just deal with that stuff by diving in headfirst and seeing what happens. Honestly? Taking even one small step forward is still a win in my book.

So, here’s the next snag.
So, what’s the deal with us emotionally closed-off types? Honestly—I’ve got this massive phobia of actually letting someone get to know me... I end up making a whole new profile every single Friday just to reset.

So, what now? You want me to just sit here and list out the last 75 usernames?

Don't worry, we aren't the police coming to check IDs. You don't even have to mention a single username. Does it even matter? If you show up, we aren't going to treat you like a screen name; we're going to treat you like a person. 🙂

And hey, I totally get it—sometimes I try to pitch three different ideas at once, and it just comes out as pure verbal chaos.

EDIT: fadedbear92 is practically begging for photos, so here we go, my humble self ... 😂😂🤣
Of course, it’s the same old story—everyone on the internet acts like a total supermodel. Looking at this photo, the only thing I actually have going for me is my long hair 😢

Using the Seducer tactic to lure women in! That's just dirty!
