Joseph Watson3 said:Actually, you can—if you open a numbered account at a Swiss bank. In that case, your identity stays known to only a handful of people rather than being stored across endless networks and servers.

But first, you'd have to settle up with the IRS here in the States. You’d likely be transferring the funds through an American bank anyway, so you'd end up leaving a digital paper trail on some server for at least a little while.

I was hoping I could jump in here with a quick question if that’s alright 😬

I’m wondering if it’s possible to open a standard checking account—using all my own legal information, everything totally by the book—but somehow arrange it so that when people send money, my actual name, John Doe, doesn't show up on the transaction? Instead, could it say something like, I don't know, "Jam Production" 😁 (just as a trade name, not a formal corporation)

To put it simply, is there any way to remain anonymous to the people making the transfers?

My gut feeling tells me the answer is probably no, but I figured I’d check in here first just to be absolutely sure before I head down to a local bank branch... 😁

It’s totally doable; you just have to make the transfer from a different bank.

And can someone actually sending money to that account—specifically the one for "jam production"—ask the clerk to just show them the user data for that account?

Not happening. Individual account data stays locked within each specific bank. Only the Federal Reserve sees everything across the board.
But seriously, no one’s going to name their checking account "jam production." That would be an immediate red flag!

With that kind of cash on the table, it's pretty much impossible to stay under the radar.

It's a headache if you don't win, and just as much of a headache if you do. 😬

What do you mean? You look around and realize there are plenty of people holding that kind of wealth. It’s not even that much money, especially not to the folks at Chase who deal with this stuff every day.
