I was wondering how long it typically takes for the "Great Deal" benefit card to arrive at my home address after I've activated my Aetna supplemental insurance?

Give it about three weeks.

Thanks! Does this kick in automatically once I sign up, or am I supposed to call someone or toggle a setting in the app to activate the benefit?
Since it’s been over a month since I started my State Farm coverage, I still haven't received my "good opportunity" card.

It doesn't just happen automatically.
Give them a call and tell them you're interested in getting a card made and sent over to you.

They're pretty helpful—it’s not like they'll pretend the option doesn't exist or anything—but you can't expect it to be automated.

Has anyone actually managed to cancel their policy when they requested the termination less than three months before the expiration date? I’m starting to wonder if I'm just fighting a losing battle here...

Ugh... I'm wondering the exact same thing...
But from what I can tell, you have to give them 90 days' notice.
I honestly don't get why they make it so difficult; it’s incredibly shady.
They lure you in with better rates and terms—both them and all the other big companies out there—but then I'm stuck paying through the nose for this overpriced policy for another whole year. 🙂
And they actually expect me to stick with them once this period ends? As if!🤔
🤣

Give me a break.
Some companies just have a corporate policy of "absolutely not."

By the way—I have no idea what this "good opportunity" thing is supposed to be, since they just pushed it on me—and frankly, I am SO sick of all these apps cluttering up my phone.
It's exhausting! 🙂🙂🙂

So, I just got hit with a bill from Chevron for my supplemental insurance for next year, even though I never actually signed up for an extension and definitely don't want it.
I honestly just assumed the policy ran for a year and then you'd have to renew it manually, you know?...
Since when did they get the right to just auto-renew my coverage without asking me first?
And now, of course, I’m sitting here reading the fine print only to realize I was supposed to request a cancellation three months before the expiration date...
What a bunch of absolute vultures.
Does anyone know what I should do?
Naturally, they're already throwing around threats about collections if I don't pay up.

There’s nothing you can do. Your only option is to pay up. The policy includes a clause stating it automatically renews unless one side cancels, and since you didn't give notice three months ago, you're on the hook for this one.

Their clinic is just awful; they keep canceling appointments. I’ve had a bad experience with them before when a family member went in for a checkup. Honestly, I don't get how anyone can use their insurance. I mean, maybe having their auto coverage wasn't such a big deal, but their healthcare services are a total disaster. I really wanted to go there because it's so close to my place—I could have even walked—but you just can't get an appointment. You end up waiting a month for a visit, and even then, nothing is guaranteed. I remember going to a hospital once and actually being seen on time without anyone calling to cancel on me.

When it comes to the US, it’s the same old story: you have to actually read the fine print instead of just assuming things.
You aren't the only one who fell for this; I remember some folks on here back in the day who made the exact same mistake. But look, if there's no way out, you're stuck paying up. The contract is legally binding, plain and simple.

The whole "automatic renewal" thing is such a massive trap... back when I had my supplemental coverage through Aetna and Medicare, they didn't do that automatic rollover nonsense.
I basically bit the bullet, paid the bill, and learned my lesson the hard way...
But they won't be seeing another dime from me, because I'm really not a fan of being backed into a corner like that without giving the green light first...

Just make sure you don't forget to cancel that new policy you paid for three months in advance. 🙂

I'm planning to cancel my policy in December since it expires in March and I have no intention of renewing—can this whole process be handled entirely over email?

Sure thing. Just grab the cancellation form. Fill it out, sign it, snap a photo, and send it over.

Get a load of this ridiculous situation I’ve run into with my insurance provider. It all started back on March 22nd, 3.2022, when I headed down to one of their local branches to file the paperwork to cancel my MetLife policy. Fast forward to a few days ago, and I get a formal notice stating that my request to terminate wasn't actually submitted until April 22nd, 4.2022. What a mess! Since the policy originally kicked off on July 12th, that supposed April date puts me way outside the 90-day window, making it look like I'm trying to cancel everything in 2023 instead.

I gave the lady I worked with at the office a call yesterday to clear this up. She told me she'd check on it and get back to me, so now I'm just sitting here playing the waiting game... though, if I'm being honest, I have a nagging feeling they're just going to brush it off as "my mistake."
