So,

I just picked up a new Gigabyte Aorus AD27QD monitor.
Under the monitors section in my Developer Manager, it’s just showing up as a Generic PnP Monitor.
My Windows is fully updated to version 1903, I've updated the chipset and GPU drivers, and I even flashed the latest firmware onto the monitor itself. I've already tested both DisplayPort and HDMI connections.

The error message is:

Device DISPLAY\GBT2701\5&2a0a636e&6&UID4359 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

Last Device Instance Id: DISPLAY\GBT2700\1&8713bca&0&UID0
Class Guid: {4d36e96e-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Location Path:
Migration Rank: 0xF000FFFF0000F100
Present: false
Status: 0xC0000719

Does anyone have any advice? Honestly, I'm starting to feel pretty frustrated. Microsoft wasn't helpful at all, and now I'm stuck waiting on a response from Gigabyte...

Maybe try rolling back the driver. Sometimes Windows just decides to install something incompatible on its own.

If that doesn't do the trick, I guess you could try uninstalling the driver entirely and then giving the system a quick restart.

The Rollback option is greyed out and completely disabled. I've already tried reinstalling the drivers from scratch. I even uninstalled the monitor through the Device Manager, rebooted, swapped out the cables, and tried every other variation I could think of. I went as far as a total wipe and clean reinstall of everything, but nothing works. At this point, the only thing left is a full, clean install of Windows, though I’m really hoping it doesn't come down to that.

It’s honestly wild how you can’t just plug in more than one monitor to a computer anymore without everything turning into a total mess. xD Thank God we live in the 21st century! 😬

So I’m running a dual monitor setup here, and Windows just flagged both of them as "generic PNP monitors," but honestly? It doesn't really bother me.
The first one was sitting at 1440x900 and worked fine, but the second one wanted to be 1680x1050—except Windows didn't even list that resolution as an option. I ended up jumping into AMD Catalyst CC to manually force that resolution in, and ever since then, Windows has been playing nice with it.
I haven't even bothered installing specific GPU or monitor drivers since moving to Windows 10; I've just been sticking with whatever the OS decided to install on its own. And seriously, the idea of messing with firmware? No thanks, not happening.

I'm honestly not quite sure how you managed to help me there, but I appreciate it nonetheless.

The graphics card handles all the monitor functions anyway, so I don't see the point in installing specific monitor drivers.
Is everything working fine on your end?
If it is, then what's the big deal? If you hate the name, just write your own driver to change it. It's not rocket science.
Besides, most monitor drivers don't even exist because they aren't necessary.

Not everything is working correctly. Certain third-party software—games, for instance—isn't recognizing my monitor properly because they're pulling data directly from Windows, which prevents me from adjusting the settings the way I actually want them. It also seems like there might be some issue involving color profiles or something related to how the hardware handles color space (I don't quite grasp the technical side of that part).

I ended up unplugging this monitor and swapping it back to my old Samsung. Honestly, it’s unbelievable—once I installed the driver, everything worked perfectly.
It makes me wonder: why would anyone bother developing specific firmware for a monitor if a generic Windows driver works just fine for everything else? If anyone actually knows the answer to that, please let me know.

I have a bit of a feeling that maybe something might have gone a little sideways during the setup. Perhaps you could try finding some kind of utility that can read the EDID just to see what information the monitor is actually reporting back to Windows.

Look, there’s no way my wife from Microsoft and I could have pulled a fast one on them separately. It would be too obvious to fake it. But hey, I’ll give it a shot once my new monitor arrives. I actually returned the old one today—it was such a mess that even the frame was bent.
