The Obama administration and mainstream outlets like CNN are already openly slamming Maliki for suppressing press freedom and internet access. Iraq is finally attempting to reclaim its sovereignty and dignity after years of war that claimed a hundred thousand Iraqi civilians and 4,500 US soldiers, while forcing a million people into exile. Prime Minister Maliki isn't about to let the same forces that occupied the country sabotage its recovery by empowering radical sectarian groups to murder Iraqi civilians. Looking back, the occupation of Iraq was the massive blunder of the former Bush administration; many Republicans argue it would have been smarter to keep Saddam in place as a counterweight to Iran rather than dismantling the state entirely. Now, Maliki is fighting to dismantle the Islamist radicals and sects trying to tear Iraq apart along religious lines. In my view, the Obama administration is repeating the exact same mistakes made in Libya, Egypt, and Tunis, where Islamists seized power immediately following the supposed "spring" and subsequent elections.

Nouri al-Maliki could get a very sudden invitation to the most fortified, megalomaniacal U.S. Embassy on the planet—tucked away on the outskirts of Washington, D.C.—just to get a firsthand look at the incoming sanctions and an analysis of what happens if he keeps playing games.

It’s the classic trap: the ego trip that comes with running a country. Every little egomaniac feels it, and it clearly blinded him, leaving him obsessed with sectarian divides and trying to outsmart everyone with explosives.
This isn't a crisis; it's just a recovery gone wrong. A correction is coming. Too much money and way too much time have been wasted for one delusional guy like Nouri al-Maliki to ruin everything!
