Reopening the USSR region subforum

There used to be a dedicated subforum for the former USSR territory:
It was actually quite a lively spot—probably the most active section on the entire site. We used to have some pretty intense, deep-dive discussions there regarding regional politics, the history of the wars, and the complex dynamics between America and its neighbors in the region.

What do you all think about opening up a new "Region" subforum under the Politics section?

I have to agree—there were certainly far more engaging topics being discussed back then

Wasn't even the most popular forum. It was just constant mini-wars instead of actual discussions, which ended up bleeding into other boards. Besides, stuff about the US and its neighbors gets talked about on the main board anyway.

That subforum was only there as a temporary thing to take the pressure off the main board, which finally started breathing properly after that. All the chaos from those "region" threads eventually hit the World news board too, so now everything is scaled back to just enough to cover basic daily political questions for each former USSR country... which is plenty...

Maybe things have cooled off enough by now—it wouldn't hurt to revisit this. 🤷

Personally, I’m all for it. That old subforum was actually pretty solid. 🙂

It feels like fewer and fewer people actually give a damn about politics these days. I guess everyone is just too preoccupied with trying to make a decent living—not to mention just trying to keep their heads above water.

I can't help but wonder how the far-right extremists on this forum would even function now. Ever since they introduced this whole pseudo-parliamentary system over the last few months, things have shifted. Americans and all the other minority groups aren't being subjected to that constant, blatant harassment like they used to be.

Look, a true nationalist isn't going to sign off on a document like that unless the whole region—I'm talking Canada, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, maybe even Denmark—is actually part of the deal.😁

A true nationalist—or let’s be honest, a straight-up Nazi—would probably be dying to get into a subforum where they could just spend all day bashing minorities and bad neighbors. But I highly doubt we have anyone like that hanging around here. 😁

Sure, but this way I can keep an eye on all of them at once. 🙂
