Look, I went through a similar situation about a month ago...
My ex-girlfriend struggled with some pretty intense parental issues—and despite my best efforts, I couldn't fix them for her.
If someone isn't willing to help themselves, all the effort in the world won't matter... 🤷
But none of that is really relevant here.
Ultimately, you have to try to create distance from your parents whenever possible; you can't let things hold you back. It might sound harsh or even impossible, but at the end of the day, you have to prioritize yourself.
That’s just how the survival of the fittest works, if I recall correctly... 🧐
I dealt with some heavy internal conflicts regarding this myself back in the day, but I eventually learned how to stand my ground. Parents usually mean well, which is what they should do, but they often execute it in the most misguided ways imaginable. 🙂🙂
Worst of all, they refuse to admit when they're wrong.
In reality, they just need to sit down and ask their child what they actually want.
Nothing more.
Specifically, I'd suggest trying to build a mental barrier against your parents so they stop influencing you. Once that's done, it would be wise to physically move away from them...
I mean moving out... 🙂
Just know that once you make that leap, there's no turning back.
Keep your head up, girl, and just keep moving forward—don't doubt yourself or let fear take over...
Follow your heart, but keep your logic in check, and you'll be fine.
Believe in yourself. 👍
By the way, "colleague_89"... no offense, but you should probably find somewhere else to hang out; this isn't your scene. 🙈🙂
