Budget PC build under $1,000?

Hey everyone, looking for some build advice for around $1,000.

I’ve already got my peripherals, including a monitor, plus some extra storage (one 2TB drive and one 3TB drive). So, I just need a boot SSD, motherboard, RAM, CPU, GPU, PSU, and a case—I'm honestly not even sure if all the USB ports on my current setup actually work, but that's a whole other story.

The rig is mainly for gaming. I don't need top-of-the-line specs, but I want something that'll hold up for a few years. I mostly play RPGs, RTS, 4X, sports titles, and indies, plus the usual daily stuff like browsing, streaming, and Word.

I have zero interest in overclocking since I don't really know the first thing about it.

You could potentially go with a cheaper SSD to squeeze in another stick of RAM, though honestly, adding more later is probably the easiest way to go. Or, you could just blow the budget by about $30 and grab 🙂

If you aren't planning on overclocking, then sticking with Intel is probably your best bet.

The 1600X versus the stock 9400F... honestly, there isn't much of a gap.
Maybe those slightly better performance numbers justify the extra cash, but you're getting way more upgrade headroom with the 1600X. Plus, that multithreading makes it a lot more future-proof.

But hey, it's not like it's going to make or break your setup either way.

I’m rocking an i5-3350P @ 3.10GHz right now and honestly, it does the job just fine, so I think I’ll probably just stick with the i5 line for a while. Thanks for all the tips!
