Andrew Mendoza10 said:Middle school was a nightmare for me, yet high school turned out fine—and I didn't go in acting tough or anything. I wasn't exactly mentally bulletproof either; I just acted normally and ran into the same types of people. Once, some kids tried to mess with me, but I snapped immediately like a total maniac—though, looking back, it was mostly a bluff.

Man, what kind of school were you even at? My freshman year was pure hell... easily the worst four years of my life.

I went to an Economic school, though I'm not from Washington, D.C.—I grew up in a small town, which might have played a part in the experience.

Well, maybe... I'm guessing you already had a little circle of friends from middle school before you even started high school.
As for me, I moved to Washington, D.C. for school even though I wasn't originally from there...🙄

No, I didn't know anyone—I lived in a different city during middle school, then moved to a third city for high school, which isn't where I live now. It made things difficult, honestly. In my current city, I don't know a single soul—not that I was ever much of a social butterfly to begin with—but most people were decent enough and welcomed me in, even if they all basically knew each other already. We didn't become best friends overnight. It was a slow process—just hanging out at school, talking about whatever. By junior year, we started hanging out outside of class. By the end of senior year, I actually felt bad that it was over; I’d found a great group, though most of us drifted apart afterward.

That sounds like pure luck... or maybe you're just more social than you think? But since you say you aren't, it really has to be luck. Man, I wish I’d had even a little bit of that kind of luck...

I have to admit, luck does follow me in certain areas—though if you ask me, I’m completely out of luck when it comes to romance, while everything else seems to work out about 90% of the time.

Well, there's that old theory—if you're unlucky in love, you make up for it everywhere else, and vice versa. It's like a cosmic balancing act...🙂
But then there are people like me... who just can't catch a break in any category whatsoever.🙄

Look, honestly? I truly hope things start looking up for you across the board.🙂

Just wait until things finally start looking up out there—it'll happen eventually, I suppose. 🙂

I feel exactly the same way... I wouldn't dream of going back to high school for anything in the world. Honestly, I was just counting down the minutes until that final bell rang on the last day, just so I could finally walk away and never have to lay eyes on any of those people again. Man, what an incredible sense of relief that was.😁

Honestly... ever since I started high school, I’ve basically just been counting down the days until graduation. I couldn't wait to get out. And man, that one spring formal was absolute chaos. I had way too much to drink and decided—in my infinite wisdom—that I was going to get revenge on everyone. Total disaster. It didn't work at all... I just ended up looking like a complete idiot. But then again, I was already acting like one back then anyway...🤣
It’s all fun and games now, I guess... but honestly? I wouldn't last a single day in high school anymore. Not one...🙄

It’s wild how many people get a knot in their stomach just thinking about their school days. For me, elementary school was a total nightmare. Luckily, I found my crew in high school, and we're still hanging out today. Sure, there were some rough patches, but overall, high school was alright. People seem a bit more grown-up and mature by then—they don't just pick on people for no reason like they do in middle school.

@author:

just a quick side note here:

if you don't deal with this headspace right now—I mean, seriously, get ahead of it—this feeling is gonna haunt you for at least the next decade... and honestly, even then, you might still be struggling to wrap your head around why it happened...
long story short, you're looking at a mountain of mental health struggles, endless diagnoses, and a whole pharmacy's worth of meds coming your way if you don't fix this soon. 👍

Thanks. So now, one of those popular girls is acting like everything is totally fine—talking to me like nothing ever happened. It’s honestly disgusting and so hypocritical (at least if you ask me). I’m not giving her even a 2% chance... she hasn't earned it from me. The only thing I can't figure out is how I'm going to handle walking into school tomorrow. Who am I supposed to sit with? Who am I even going to hang out with? Nothing about this makes any sense...😕

You’ll see—everything will turn out fine. Once you actually step back onto campus, you’ll realize nobody even remembers

Honestly, I would never offer tutoring ever again... people simply don't appreciate the effort. I cruised through all eight years of middle school with straight A's; some of my teachers even begged me to help students who were on the verge of failing 🙄 And of course, being who I am, I always helped... only to have it come back to haunt me when the very people I supported treated me like garbage 😳

Eventually, I just had to draw a line in the sand. No more helping, no more letting people copy my homework, no more private tutoring... if a professor called on me in class, I’d give the bare minimum answer required to avoid looking disrespectful

As for high school... 😲 it was a nightmare. There were 28 of us, split into these ridiculous groups of fifteen 🙄 It was a total disaster. I barely made it through those four hellish years 😳 I've stayed in touch with only two girls; as for the rest, I have absolutely no desire to hear from them or see their faces ever again 🙄

Fine—they can follow whatever rules they want, but if they want something done, they should pay for it.

👍 Yes... I had assumed she wouldn't be offering her tutoring services free of charge 😁

Look, if nothing else, you’ve only got one more year left before you head off to high school. Once you're there, it's a completely different environment, and you can finally leave these insecure kids in the rearview mirror. Just hang in there—I truly wish you the best. Besides, you don't have to limit yourself to your current classmates; I always found it much easier to make friends with people from other schools anyway. 🙂

Hey

Don't take it personally. They're just kids...

I know this is tough for you, but just remember all the amazing things waiting for you in high school.
In a few years, you'll look back and realize how silly it was to worry about such nonsense.

The truth is, you are more mature than most of them. That is the actual problem. Small-minded people are always looking for someone to vent their insecurities on.

Hang in there.😍
