He honestly doesn't have a single functional brain cell left in his head...

He sent me this whole thing yesterday: "A man doesn't realize what he actually had until it's gone," followed by some message thirty minutes later saying, "I'm sorry for absolutely everything... justice has been served." And then, to top it all off, he claims he broke up with his girlfriend, said he needs me, insisted I'm the only person who has ever truly understood him or been okay with who he is, and then tried to tell me that all those messages were actually sent by his girlfriend because he was having a complete mental breakdown after I told him I cheated on him.... what an idiot.

Harold Thomas10 said:Hey everyone... I’m not entirely sure if this is the right place for this kind of thing, but I’ll give it a shot....

To make a long story short, my boyfriend broke up with me a few months ago to be with someone else (and honestly, it wasn't even the first time; he cheated on me once before), but we managed to stay on decent terms... we talked a few times and hung out occasionally, just as friends. Then, a couple of days ago, he suddenly started blowing up my phone, asking if I was seeing anyone, whether I thought his new girlfriend was actually good enough for him, and why I hadn't tried to get back together with him after we split up. He even started grilling me about whether our sex life had been good (he’s always been pretty insecure about intimacy, which seems to be a recurring theme in most areas of his life, really)....

Anyway, he eventually jumped to the conclusion that the sex must have been great, because otherwise, why would I have stayed with him for three years and "cheated" on him? In a moment of pure, mindless sarcasm, I asked him how he could possibly be so sure I hadn't cheated on him (I know, I know, I shouldn't have said it, but it was just a joke, and when I saw his reaction, I was so stunned I didn't even realize I should take it back)... and that’s when he absolutely lost it. He started sending these vile messages calling me every name in the book—just total trash—telling me I’m dead to him now. He was cursing God, Jesus, my mother, everything under the sun. He went as far as wishing I’d drop dead from whatever happened with that guy he thinks I cheated with. He claimed I broke his heart, that I’m a terrible person, and said he hopes I never fall in love again and stay alone forever.... When I woke up, I had 38 missed calls and a mountain of texts just like that, sent all through the night....

So, basically, I want to know if this is a normal reaction for a guy who cheated on his girlfriend, dumped her, and acted like a complete lunatic just because she jokingly suggested she might have cheated on him.... I get that his ego is bruised, but the things he said to me were way over the line. To be honest, I’m actually feeling a little scared now.🤷

Thanks to everyone for the input, and sorry for the long-winded post:-)

You really should’ve let him in on the joke way sooner! But hey, better late than never, right? 👍

And oh, you can bet he'll send some pathetic, "woe is me" text within the next two weeks. Feel free to copy-paste it here—would love to have a little laugh about it. 😁

Oh, I just now caught this—Joe Biden! 👍

P.S. Just so you know—any posts where I’m calling people in America stupid or slow? That’s actually just my cat typing.
So... ban her, not me! 😬

🤣you always know how to make me laugh... hehe...

Yeah, so here comes another one... there's nobody else around except me, and she wants to be my friend, but she won't complain if things get a little heated in the bedroom occasionally!!!! She'll never find a girl like this again.🙄

But right after sending that message, he decided to end it all and just vanish from the face of the earth.... and honestly, whatever, I only asked him to pay me back the money he owes me before he goes through with it....

He won't even complain if the sex is mediocre—LOL! 🤣

Honestly, I have to say—your ex really is showing off some impressive mental skills here. Maybe tell him in your next reply that he’s basically running this forum, since he's got such high potential for becoming an admin.

Oh please, what "sexy"... all he cares about is whether I have some guy hooking me up, and now that he's single, if he's back on the market too!!!!! 😂 As if I'd want someone else sleeping with me when I can just have a great friend instead...! God, what was I thinking in life...🙂

I'll mention the forum thing to him, but I've always managed to get under his skin by talking about this place, so I highly doubt it'll work....😢

Oh my god, you’ve gotta be kidding me... he’s going to turn this whole thing into a massive production. Honestly, once I admitted I had cheated on him, he absolutely lost his mind; he started panicking and picking fights with every single one of his friends because he's totally convinced it was someone within his own inner circle!🤣

No, that isn't a normal reaction at all.

You weren't cheating on him—he was cheating on you. I don't see where he gets the nerve to lecture you when he's guilty of the exact same thing.

One thing just doesn't make sense to me, though. He actually asked you if she was "good enough" for him? Where is the logic in that? What kind of conversations are you two even having?

Girl, just walk away from him without saying a single word...

Based on everything you've shared here, I can tell you're smart, and I know you won't want anything more to do with him. You truly don't need someone like that in your life.

That’s exactly the point—I mean, when someone is already being such a jerk and driving you absolutely insane, isn't it just common sense not to throw more fuel on the fire? 😁

Ignoring them is honestly the smartest move you can make... don't let yourself be fooled by them; once a jerk, always a jerk.

Honestly, I wouldn't even know how to answer a question like that... I was genuinely stunned when he first brought it up. When I told him straight up that I wasn't the right person to be giving him advice or weighing in on his relationship, he claimed he was asking because she’s pregnant and because women are supposed to..., well, you know. So I congratulated him, and then he just casually dropped that he was messing with me and just wanted to hear my thoughts after all...🤷

I honestly don't have much to say about this particular situation right now, though I’ve been sitting here thinking about how things usually play out when people start getting loud about nothing. It feels like we're circling the same drain every single week. I was just reading through some of the recent threads, and it strikes me how much energy gets wasted on these circular arguments that never actually lead to anything productive. It reminds me of those long, drawn-out town hall meetings back in my hometown where everyone shouts over each other for two hours only to realize they haven't even touched the actual issue at hand. We need more substance and less noise if we're going to get anywhere meaningful. kaže:
That’s exactly where the issue lies. Honestly, when someone is already being an absolute jerk and trying to mess with your head like that, it’s just plain rude to go out of your way to add fuel to the fire. 😁

I’d honestly love to keep messing with him just a little longer, but I’m genuinely worried he might actually snap and try to take it out on me. At this point, though, I think I've pretty much sufficiently knocked the wind out of his sails.🙂

You really hit the nail on the head with what you told him...👍
Man, his ego is going to take such a massive hit from this, he might actually lose it, and here you are just worrying about the money...🤣

🙂🙂 And since he's always been so manipulative... this isn't even the first time he's pulled the whole "I'm going to kill myself" card. I've grown used to the drama by now. It's just that in the past, I'd always rush over to comfort him, thinking I could fix things, which only made him think he could win me back using that exact same tired routine. Well, not this time. He's not getting through to me that easily anymore.😉

Look, that reaction is totally normal, provided you’re some kind of straight-up maniacal serial killer who lives for pure sadism... just kidding, don't come at me, but honestly? There are tons of idiots like that out there. Just your run-of-the-mill losers with massive inferiority complexes who spend their entire lives taking their frustrations out on people they think are weaker than them.

Oh man, those people who constantly bring up self-harm every single time they want to win an argument are seriously my favorite kind of people... 🙏
Just some typical attention seekers... ☕

Honestly, that’s just the inevitable fallout when you try to maintain a friendship that doesn't actually have a foundation... If someone lacks basic respect for you, they shouldn't have a seat at your table, regardless of how intertwined your histories are or how often you run into them.
He was likely banking on the fact that you'd just swallow his nonsense—especially since you stayed civil despite your differences—and he clearly took that as an invitation to keep dumping his garbage on you.

A ridiculous character, really... reminds me of my ex who used to pull similar stunts... "One day you'll realize nobody will ever love you quite like I did."😂

Look, this whole thing might seem like some harmless little game, but we’re dealing with some seriously volatile situations here. I wouldn't mess around with him if I were you. Especially since he’s leaning so heavily on you.
I’m telling you this from my own bitter, firsthand experience.
Do not engage him in conversation—not in person, not over text, not through any channel at all. And for heaven's sake, do not get in a car with him. Consider this some unsolicited, good-faith advice.
