So, why doesn't the US just go after Korea? We went all in on Iraq because they claimed to have nukes, right?

And what about those pirates off the coast of Somalia? Why hasn't there been a full-scale strike there? You don't see them rocking nuclear weapons either, do you?

What do you guys think?

Iraq was invaded mostly to get closer to Russia... plus, there's the oil factor... as for North Korea, maybe they aren't in any particular rush to deal with that mess.☕

If we attacked North Korea, we'd basically be looking at World War III.

Sure, but which countries would actually sign on to a pact with North Korea?

Let's say... Russia.

Inox 18/10 says:
Yeah, but which countries would actually sign on to a pact with North Korea?

I mean, Russia...

Actually, I doubt Russia would even jump in before China does.

I just can't buy it. It doesn't make sense for Russia to have a fanatical regime sitting right next to a nuclear arsenal in their own backyard.

Regarding North Korea—Russia and China have already stepped up to help them out when they faced pressure from the US, if I recall correctly)
What do you all think about where Koreans actually get the materials and technical know-how required to build nukes? It’s a massive undertaking...
But hey, that’s just my take on things—I could be totally off base.

So, North Korea is just sitting there in Russia's backyard now?? And we're supposed to believe Russia is actually standing up against the USA to defend North Korea?? I mean, seriously, where on earth do people find these absolute gems of logic?

There are actual people living in the eastern parts of the Russian Federation, you know. ☕

Yeah, maybe like 15 of them in total, I guess.

The Russian Federation hasn't really cared much about North Korea since the days of Gorbatchev. North Korea is basically just a playground for China, and honestly, China and Russia haven't shared any real common ground for the last century or so.

So, if what you're saying is true, then Russia doesn't actually have anything to gain from North Korea, contrary to what some people on this forum seem to think.

Sure, it's from Fox News, but I don't see why anyone would bother lying about this. 🤷

The poor souls living under the thumb of the North Korean communist regime, along with those even more unfortunate drug-addled Somali pirates, essentially serve as useful idiots for Americans.

Between the looming threat of the North Korean atomic bomb and those sporadic rocket tests launched over Japanese territory—not to mention the piracy disrupting critical shipping lanes for Chinese merchant vessels and Western tankers—it all provides just enough chaos to help manipulate stock prices on Wall Street.

If they ever actually went after the Koreans, they'd get absolutely wrecked.
It's pretty simple: they're terrified of them.

Are you actually being serious right now?

In a conventional war scenario, the USA would probably need maybe fifteen days to occupy a mid-sized nation of about 30 million people...

We aren't talking about the Vietnamese here. 🤣

Even in Vietnam, they didn't suffer a defeat in military terms, I guess.

Sure, maybe. But we’re talking about fear here. You can bet they wouldn't be stepping foot back into that jungle ever again. Satellites work wonders out in the desert, but I highly doubt they'd be much help in a thick jungle crawling with traps and landmines. Without those satellites—basically without all our high-tech gear—the Americans would just be a bag of hammers.

North Korea isn't going to be easy for the USA to just go out and attack because it would trigger:

1. Massive casualties on both sides of the fence.
2. A total, indefinite meltdown of the South Korean economy.

Honestly, I think Russia might actually find North Korea more of a headache than anyone else since having a totally unhinged regime sitting right on their border with nukes is anything but a good time.
If things ever actually kicked off against North Korea, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a Russia-USA alliance pop up again after a few decades. Both sides find that sick regime annoying as hell and they'd probably both love to see it gone.

Sure, if you believe that. Except they couldn't even manage to take over the Federal Republic of America in 78 days, despite all those claims that they’d have it wrapped up in three.

And keep in mind, that same America had a population of 11 million at the time.
