Since the other chat room has become somewhat cluttered with constant nonsense and rather unreliable commentary, I thought it might be prudent to open this parallel thread. My intention here is to provide a space where shareholders can unwind—specifically those who appreciate the usual youthful energy but still wish to maintain a certain level of intellectual clarity. I’m hoping we can discuss equities without being distracted by all the typical earthly temptations and distractions found elsewhere.🙂

It looks like those old labels of "hardworking" versus "troublemakers" don't really mean anything anymore in this chaotic little banana republic we call home.😍

Polančec is "clearing the path" for a VAT hike

While appearing on NPR, Vice President Damir Polančec addressed the potential implementation of a wealth tax by suggesting that America might instead look toward increasing VAT to cover necessary state expenditures.

"I believe we need to think long-term about raising VAT, and I realize that isn't exactly pleasant news to hear," Polančec remarked.

Polančec is framing this potential tax hike as part of a broader anti-recession strategy. His logic? We could offset the cost of easing the burden on businesses—specifically by lowering pension contributions—with an increase in VAT, which he views as a neutral tax. He also pointed out that the United Kingdom's decision to cut VAT won't do much to stave off a recession.

This thread is intended for serious commentary regarding the recent volatility in the capital markets, so perhaps you could save those little jokes for trying to charm some naive newcomers on a different forum

I’m all for starting this thread (even if most of my coworkers think I'm crazy).
Look, we don't have to act like total Neanderthals or complete degenerates just to prove we aren't stuck-up snobs. We can actually be civilized, decent human beings without making it weird.
