Here’s the deal:
I missed my subscription payment deadline, and those vultures blocked my number just because I was a few days late... anyway, I cleared the balance on the sub, but I left a tiny little debt of a couple hundred bucks hanging. Now, next month, I’m expecting an envelope from a collections agency threatening to go after me if I don't pay up. The kicker is, they haven't actually told me what the total is; they just slapped a figure of $167 at me, which supposedly includes interest and legal fees... so I go ahead and pay $167, and get this... two weeks later, another envelope shows up saying:

Your payment covers the principal, interest, and a portion of the existing processing fees, while the remaining costs totaling $100😠
remain outstanding. What $100? For what? I could easily write someone a letter claiming they owe me $167 and demand they wire it to my account... they don't even provide a breakdown or show how they arrived at that specific number... give me some advice on what to do here because this is a complete joke.👎

Maybe you should just reach out to them directly to see why they're charging you that much instead of asking on the forum...🙄

Look, this is my country we're talking about, and in my eyes, the guy owes me $4333 yet I can't collect a dime from him... meanwhile, I'm sitting here getting hit with collection notices for a debt of $13, which is just plain shameful

Well, if you actually have a signed contract with him, you might have some standing to collect.

So you miss a payment deadline and suddenly they're the bad guys? (They're always the bad guys, regardless, but let's not pretend that's why)
I usually run my subscription about two or three weeks behind schedule, and honestly, all I ever get is a quick text or a formal notice in the mail letting me know I missed it...
That implies you haven't paid for quite a while if they've already moved straight to collections; usually, they'd just shut off your service before taking that step.
So, how long has it actually been since you last settled up—are we talking six months or something?🙄

John, you basically walked right into this mess yourself, and now you’re stuck playing defense with zero leverage
just pay up what they're asking for and pray that's the end of it
besides, those legal fees... honestly, they make sense from their perspective
look at it this way: if I owed you money and you had to hire a lawyer just to get me to cough up the cash, you'd damn well expect me to cover his bill too, wouldn't you?
well, that's exactly how these guys operate
the costs were triggered by your actions, not theirs, so the burden falls on you to settle the tab

Look, I'm not out here defending them or anything. I'm just giving it to you straight. I'm no attorney, and I don't work for some giant like AT&T or Verizon, so I'm just speaking plainly, hoping you can find a way to get this all sorted out...👋
