Hannah Barnes said:In much the same way, we operate under a set of "internal" rules regarding what actually exists, how things appear, and how we perceive them; this is the very foundation of our subjective reality.
These frameworks were forged through experience, cultural heritage, social consensus, deep-seated taboos, and the biological and physical constraints of our species, our environment, and the planet we call home...
We live by standardized norms.
Our entire understanding of existence is dictated by that specific standardization.
The "world" we inhabit is merely the byproduct of all this...
Does the world truly depend on our observation or our experience of it?
Would outer space even exist if our species were to go extinct?
Well put, though you neglected to mention that most of these rules are forced upon us
from birth until the day we die... these imposed regulations turn us into slaves of those who
dictate the terms... yet some people still sit around wondering if The Matrix exists 😉
"You're here because you know something.
What you know, you can't explain.
But you feel it. You felt it your entire life:
There's something wrong with the world.
You don't know what, but it's there.
Like a splinter in your mind driving you mad.
It is this feeling that has brought you to me.
Do you know what I'm talking about?
The Matrix?
Do you want to know what it is?
The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us.
Even now, in this very room.
You can see it when you look out your window
or when you turn on your television.
You can feel it when you go to work,
when you go to church, when you pay your taxes.
It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes
to blind you from the truth.
What truth?
That you are a slave, neo.
Like everyone else, you were born into bondage
born into a prison that you cannot smell or taste or touch.
A prison for your mind.
Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is.
You have to see it for yourself."
In my view, one of the most effective ways to actually notice the matrix is
by understanding the past... that old saying "history
is the mother of wisdom" holds weight... only once a person becomes aware of the matrix
do they become conscious of the way the matrix influences them
individually... two films mentioned in this thread were of
great help to me, so I am sharing them with you:
