- How many transactions actually need to go through before they start showing up on my JPMorgan Chase app?
- Is it possible to change my PIN right at an ATM?
- Is it standard practice for them to set the default term to 36 months even though I specifically asked for 1? (When they told me the card was approved, they mentioned I’d have to file some sort of formal request if I wanted the single-month option—apparently, you can't just switch it immediately upon issuance.)

Usually takes about 24 hours.

Is it normal that they set the default to 36 installments even though I asked for just one? When they told me my card was approved, they mentioned I’d have to file some kind of formal request if I wanted a single payment, claiming it wasn't possible right at the moment of issuance.

I think it’s totally normal, but honestly, it doesn't really matter what you think since nobody's stopping you from just paying off your full balance next month anyway. That's how I always handle mine. 🙂

So, has anyone else tried asking for a credit limit increase on their Apple Card? I put in my request back on May 22nd and still haven't heard a single thing. 🤷

- Like darkmaker94 mentioned, transactions usually show up tomorrow. But as soon as it goes through, you'll see your available credit drop immediately.
- I don't think JPMorgan Chase lets you change your PIN at their ATMs.
- If I remember correctly, the options on the terminal are 12, 24, or 36 months. If you figure out how to switch it to 1, let me know.

Where can you actually request a limit increase? Is it done online?

Honestly, you can barely get anything done online with JPMorgan Chase; you pretty much have to drag yourself down to a local branch for everything. 👎

It took me a few months of actually using the card before I finally got some real answers. 😁
My credit limit gets slashed almost immediately—well, except for a handful of specific online retailers—but it definitely happens within a 24-hour window.
As for my transactions, most of them don't show up in the app for about 24 hours. There are exceptions, though, mainly with certain webstores or something like ExxonMobil—for instance, I filled up my tank on Monday, but the charge didn't actually pop up until Thursday.

Regarding the installment plans—back when I first applied, there was a field in the portal where you could select anywhere from 1 to 36 monthly installments or a 5% to 95% down payment.
I reached out to the bank directly, and they told me that because of all the lingering economic fallout from the pandemic, everyone new is being defaulted to the 36-month plan—though apparently, once you hit the six-month mark, you can request to lower it.

Revolving credit can be a fantastic tool because it offers a level of flexibility you just don't get with standard credit cards. But honestly? You have to stay on top of it. You can't just coast for months by paying off the bare minimum percentage required; if you try that, you're basically signing up for a financial disaster within a year. Most other cards have built-in "guardrails" where they might flag or restrict you if you overspend without paying down the balance, since everything except the installments hits at once. Revolving doesn't offer that kind of safety net, so you really need much stronger self-discipline.

I’ve been wondering—is it actually possible to snag a credit card without going through Dora or Rock? My main focus is really on setting up an installment plan for payments. To be completely honest, I was a bit of a mess when it came to my previous accounts at Wells Fargo.

Can I use this card to pull cash from an ATM, say $1667(depending on whatever the daily limit happens to be), and then just pay it back over 36 months if I set up that installment plan right at the start?

It’s doable, though you should expect them to hit you with an ATM withdrawal fee; let's call it $67, and that gets tacked onto your very first payment. After that, you're looking at a monthly charge of 138.89, with interest kicking in every four months.

If I use my Visa, say a retailer offers interest-free installments over 24 months and I pay off the full balance every single month (avoiding any revolving credit), am I still hit with annual interest? How does this actually work? I've never really dealt with a credit card before.

Then there aren't any interest rates.

What the hell... I'm still getting used to this card. I bought something on an installment plan—12 months total.

9 months in. Total was 3500... monthly payment is about $67.
9 months in, 3500 total, monthly is roughly 124 miles.

$133. To pay off in 10 months, I owe
.$133 To pay off in 11 months, I owe
.
By month 11, everything should be settled. Then a refund of $833 hits for one transaction and 2500 for the other.

Now I'm getting a notification saying for month 12 I have to pay
.$133

So basically, they didn't lower the monthly payment at all. It's the exact same amount.
My question is: where did the $1667 refund actually go?
Why hasn't the monthly payment been reduced for either transaction? If that money went toward an overpayment, am I still stuck paying the full $133 bill this month, or does it just deduct from that $1667 credit? They aren't being clear about this.
P.S. My available credit actually increased by $1667 because of this.

If your available credit went up, it means the money hit the card. Your monthly payments will still show up, but they’ll just be covered by that credit, so you don't actually have to pay anything out of pocket. You could always swing by JPMorgan Chase to officially close out that installment plan if you want.

Other banks or credit card companies usually just apply partial refunds directly to the transaction and knock it off the monthly payment... for instance, instead of being $67 it becomes $10... and so on. Right now, this notice says I owe $133 by December 20th... despite the fact that there's an overpayment sitting there. It makes zero sense that the same bank would send me a bill when they already have my extra cash. Honestly, it feels like JPMorgan Chase might actually be the worst bank out there.

Just answering my own question here—maybe this helps someone else too. The refund doesn't actually go toward your monthly subscription; instead, it works like any other major bank where they just lower your installment amount. The catch? It takes JPMorgan Chase about 30 days to "sort it out," whereas most other banks handle it within a week, tops.
