It’s $50 per person, and you just bring your own wine, spirits, and cake. They provide dessert, and honestly, their pastries are actually pretty great. 🙂
I’m fairly certain the terrace stays open the whole time, though I haven't explicitly confirmed it. Or maybe I did? Everything is a bit of a blur from all the frantic running around lately. 😬
The only potential hiccup is that since we're at Joker’s place, and he’s in a pretty densely populated neighborhood, people might get a little cranky if things get too loud... but if it's just stepping outside for some fresh air, it should be fine. I'll double-check and let you know!

e, and you’re more than welcome to bring along some of those treats of yours if you want to supplement whatever they're serving.
The water—both still and sparkling—plus the juices, both natural and fizzy, are all included in the price.

I kept picturing the wedding party trekking through the mall, and then once we finally make it up to the restaurant, having all those people sipping coffee in the cafe right across from us staring at us like we’re aliens...
But!
I actually had a chat with Priya, who organizes weddings, and she did a little rehearsal there about four months ago. Everything went smoothly; they have a really gorgeous setup for ceremonies. You don't enter the hall through the main mall area; instead, you use a different entrance and walk across the terrace—it's by the pool, which is part of that new area where they had the ice rink or whatever last year. You can have the welcome drinks out on the terrace before heading into the restaurant. Plus, the cafe on that floor closes during the wedding, so I think it works out fine 🤷
I don't know... it seems alright to me...
And the President in San Diego has the same owner as the one in St. Louis. I've heard they can be a bit difficult to deal with, but if you stay "firm," everything should turn out okay... honestly, I'm not entirely sure myself... 😢

Megan Miller3, what you're saying about Sky actually sounds awesome to me, especially since they have plenty of parking and it's close to everything. As for the President, I wouldn't recommend it based on my own experience—the headaches they cause just aren't worth the stress. Besides, San Jose is a nightmare when it comes to traffic, and with the services at their local church, the surrounding streets always end up completely jammed up.

Eric Allen4 said:If you don't mind me asking, how much does it usually cost to have Musicians come to a venue just to fill the gaps between band sets? I’m currently weighing my options—maybe just an accordionist and a guitarist, or something along those lines.

Well, they were looking for someone specifically for the home performance, which was what $667 requested, but for the full day through the evening, it would have been $1067. We eventually figured that for that amount of $400, it probably made more sense to just let them play until they were completely exhausted 🤣. That’s essentially how it went down. They ended up playing for us until about 3 in the morning. 😉

Megan Miller3 said:Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing, but my musicians are looking at $1,800 and the band is around $2,000, so that's getting a little steep for me... plus, they won't be traveling all this way just for me (even though my parents are absolutely heartbroken about it).😢
I suspect the musicians might be cheaper if it were just a small gathering at my place or his, but since they’re coming all the way to San Diego from Washington, D.C., it doesn't really make sense to hire them for just an hour or two.🤷
So, for the ceremony and the quick reception at location X, I think I'll just book a small acoustic group for about an hour or ninety minutes. That seems like the most sensible move for now.🙂

I actually wanted to have a choir perform right in front of the church, but my husband shut that idea down immediately—he pointed out we shouldn't be hosting a massive charity concert with fifty performers—so we ended up not doing it.🤣
I've always had a soft spot for 🙏🙏

Oh great, sounds reasonable enough. I'll give it some more thought.

Regarding the President Hotel, I actually called the President Hotel in San Francisco when I was looking for a venue—we spoke about five times just to look at the hall, and we couldn't even reach an agreement. That main manager is never available; apparently, you can manage without her, blah blah blah. In the end, we just gave up and didn't even go see it. If it takes that much effort just to *look* at a room, imagine what it's like for anything else.😕
But hey, I don't know—you could try. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Exactly... everyone says the same thing. My gut feeling was right, too; it just confirmed all my suspicions. Plus, I attended a friend's party there once. Even though everything turned out fine for them in the end, she spent the whole time clashing with the owner, who insists on doing things strictly her way. And now that you mention it, she told me she'd call me on Monday to arrange a time for me to stop by! It’s such a headache.🙄 You basically have to schedule a meeting just to decide when you're going to talk. Ha!

When I asked if they had a floor plan or a layout so we could see what it looks like, they just said it would be identical to their larger one in ST... which tells me absolutely nothing. Honestly, I'd rather just send a guy out there to check it himself. A person really needs to know where they're hosting their party...
The whole thing is just one endless saga...😳

I'm rooting for San Jose solely because the location is perfect for Matic.

But if dealing with the President is going to be that much of a logistical nightmare... I'm out.👎

LOOKING FOR A MUSICIAN IN SAN FRANCISCO:
So, I’ve got a wedding coming up this June, and honestly, we’ve pretty much knocked out the big stuff already, but I am seriously struggling to track down a keyboardist/accordion player and a guitarist. Someone mentioned Nick (Hans) on a thread recently, but looking at the rates, it $667 feels like way too much money just for two hours of music. If we pay them that much, we might as well hire a full-blown DJ to spin tracks all night long, which feels like a total overkill for such a short set.

It really seems like everyone is just trying to bleed you dry once they find out you're getting married! 😠

The headache is that I don't have a single reliable contact number, and I really don't want to play phone tag with random people from some sketchy Craigslist ad and hope for the best. If anyone happens to have the cell number for an accordionist/guitarist duo, or even just an accordion player please, please, please 🤣 🤣 🤣 shoot me a private message. My one non-negotiable is that they play strictly West Coast vibes—meaning absolutely zero cheesy party anthems, nothing trashy like those old school rock bands, or any of that folk-pop stuff that makes my skin crawl. I just can't picture people walking into my wedding beltng out songs by someone like Bruce Springsteen or similar artists. That is completely out of the question!

LOOKING FOR A MAKEUP ARTIST:
One more thing! Does anyone know how far in advance you actually need to book a makeup artist before the big day? Also, I'm hunting for a solid makeup pro in San Francisco. I heard through the grapevine that Antonia Guc is incredible, but I have no clue how to track her down. So, if anyone could be a total lifesaver and 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏send her number over via DM

Yes, this looks good. Honestly, I’m not sure what else to tell you—you'll figure something out eventually.

The issue is that I don't actually have anyone's contact info—and I have zero desire to gamble on random numbers from some sketchy classified ad site. If anyone has a number for a Harmonics + guitar player, or even just a Harmonics player, please, please, please reach out via DM.

I have numbers for a few Harmonics players; I'll send them over to you privately. Though, to be clear, they aren't vetted—so I can't tell you if they're any good or not. I just pulled those numbers from various forums and haven't actually called them yet.
One acquaintance gave me the number for a Harmonics player and a guitarist who played at her party. She claims they were great, so I can pass that along once I track down the number.
Anyway, I hope this helps.
As for the music itself, I assume you can negotiate the setlist with them—unless, of course, they specialize strictly in one specific genre.

Huge thanks to all the ladies who slid into my DMs with all that info I was looking for! You seriously made my life so much easier!

I’ve still got a few things on my mind, so here goes nothing:
Does anyone happen to know someone who works from home—like, a private florist doing arrangements and boutonnieres—who actually knows what they're doing and is located in San Francisco? If you have a contact number, please just send it over via private message. 🤣 🤣

If you don't know any independent florists, honestly, even just a recommendation for a solid flower shop in San Francisco with decent prices would work. The main thing is that they can handle both the arrangements and the boutonnieres, though I guess pretty much everyone does that nowadays anyway!

I seem to recall seeing people on this forum mention Katie's shop over in the Pujanko area, and if my memory serves me right, maybe a place called Jaglac too!

Oh, one more thing that popped into my head:
I heard a rumor that restaurants aren't allowed to serve homemade desserts anymore because health inspectors are out on the prowl, and apparently, you need some kind of official certification or something...! I've been to a ton of catered events over the last few years, and I've never once heard of an inspector cracking down on someone just for serving homemade treats at a party.
Store-bought sweets just never hit the same as the homemade stuff for me, so hearing that actually bummed me out quite a bit. I was already planning on getting the cakes from Delta, but I was dead set on having homemade cookies and pastries, and now I'm just left scratching my head!
Does anyone know if it's actually legal to bring homemade desserts into a restaurant, or is that a total no-go?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Your best bet is just to ask the venue directly and see what they say. If a health inspector rolls up, the restaurant takes the fall—so naturally, they’re going to try to dodge that headache. When I was checking out some banquet halls, they told me straight up: everything has to be certified, period.
In most of the venues I looked at, I got the exact same answer.

Raymond Brooks7 said:And then you have Ivica Lisjak.🙏 😍

Hey everyone! I've already booked my venue and the DJ for a few months now (Kokolo and Viva), but now I'm stuck on the photographer... I'm torn between Lisjak, Studim in, Teklić, or Photo Delta.
I could really use some advice here..

Raymond Brooks7, you went with Lisjak... how did your photos turn out? Everyone seems to rave about him, and looking at his website, I definitely like his style, but I feel like I'm missing a bit of imagination—you know, things like shots within shots or extra focus on details. His work feels more "fine art," whereas I'd love someone who plays around with the images a bit more through Photoshop editing.
How were yours, and which package did you end up getting??

Check out the wedding shots from Studim in and Chikita's guy (Teklić), then ask Raymond what package he used. Just see what you vibe with most.

hey...

I went with that third package... and I have plenty of detail shots and various combinations... in the album, early 😍 I am beyond happy with both the photos and the video, and honestly, it was worth every penny... if you want, I can PM you a link to the photos so you can see exactly what the quality looks like. 😁

p.s. You picked an incredible venue and band... and all that deserves a top-tier photographer too. I’d vote for Lisjak, but you really can't go wrong with Studim in, Teklić, or even Photo California!
The only other names I'd throw out there are Ivica Matić and Sin from Photo Plus!

We’ve gone ahead and booked the Pink Panther 😍
Of course, I still have a few lingering questions regarding the two venues we’re looking at—we’re planning to sit on it for a couple of days before we commit to any deposits:
Sky (Split-Joker) and
that new hotel out in San Diego—the President. It hasn't officially opened its doors yet; they're aiming for an April launch. Honestly, I'm flying blind right now—no idea about the pricing or even what the ballroom actually looks like... nothing. I have a meeting scheduled with the manager next week to hammer out those specifics 🤷
Has anyone here actually worked with either of these places?
What are your thoughts...

Just so you know😲Pink Panther was available on September 12th. 👍

I used Photo California and we were incredibly satisfied; there was no pressure at all, just plenty of laughter while they did their job. They captured all the essential moments without us ever having to prompt them... the photos are fantastic. My crew consisted of Mike and Jacob....
