Gerald Rivera60 said:Look... I spend at least 8 hours a day glued to my computer—plus another few hours at home. And honestly? I don't consider myself an addict.

Ugh... oh, my dear @Gerald, that’s exactly how all addicts think when they first start down that path. 😉 😉

Kyle Nelson2 said:I honestly feel like people with fewer than 1,000 posts don't really have anything meaningful to contribute here.
you might actually have time left to save yourselves.

It seems like you're just some regular over on Reddit gold.

Must be nice being you, 😬 😬

True, but my social life is fine, my job isn't suffering... and I'm comfortable with where I am. It doesn't bother me if I can't get online for a while.
I have other dependencies, I'll admit that much... 🙂

By the way, you changed your avatar, so I didn't recognize you immediately, crimsonhound80...

I honestly can't wrap my head around it—what is actually going through the minds of people who spend their entire lives binge-watching shows?

🤣 🤣 🙏 🙏

👍 haha, you're totally talking out of your ass 😬

Anyway, this is a pretty interesting thread with some wild takes..

I wouldn't call myself an addict or anything, even though I'm basically living online lately, but I'll admit I've gotten way too comfortable having everything at my fingertips... I'm definitely planning on cutting back on screen time soon 😬

TV shows don't really give you a way to actually get involved in things, so I guess it's harder to get hooked on them compared to being online where you can act like you're some kind of big shot 😍 😬

That’s not really what I meant, but there are plenty of people who sit in front of their TVs for ten hours straight, and honestly, I don't get how you can act so tough online when, if I'm being completely honest with myself, I spend fifteen or more hours a day glued to my screen, and I'm actually okay with that.😢 ,, I truly mean it... 🙂

Gerald Johnson4 said:it doesn't matter, there are plenty of old ladies sitting in front of their TVs for ten hours straight, and I honestly don't get how you can act so tough online, 😢 ,, I mean seriously... I’m basically addicted to spending 15 or even more hours a day on this stuff, and I'm actually kind of proud of it,,, 🙂

well.... congrats on the 15 hours, gotta admit I don't think I could even beat that myself 😬

but, look, you play the tough guy because everything is just right there at your fingertips, I guess 🤣 -I haven't really started acting all big and bad yet, but I imagine if you, say,
play some violent shooters, you can wipe out half a town and go wild, plus you can trash talk half the forum (which is basically just a bunch of people using dumb comments as a vent 🙄 for their frustrations) and whatever else 😳 😁

and at the end of the day, that feeling of power comes from being able to be someone you aren't, having an audience while you play the star (if that's what you're into), which is something you just don't get watching cable TV.

Robert Diaz7 said:Well... congrats on hitting fifteen hours, I have to admit even I can't top that number.😬

But honestly, you’re just acting all high and mighty because you have total access to everything; I don't know.🤣 I haven't really started getting into those kinds of games yet, but I imagine if you played something like a violent shooter, you could just wipe out half a town or vent your frustrations by insulting half the people on Reddit with stupid comments and stuff.
🙄 It's basically an outlet for people who need to blow off steam, right?😳 😁

At the end of the day, that feeling of power comes from being able to pretend you're someone else entirely—you get an audience and you get to be the star if you want to be, which isn't something you get over at the local telecom office.

I'm sorry, but you're just strange... I truly mean that... I don't even know how to respond to that.
And you're actually competing with someone over how much time they spend online... wow... well, sorry if my post threw you off your game then.

Hey there! So, I’m definitely a huge screen addict too!
I'm talking maybe 5 hours during the week, but once the weekend hits? Easily 10, 12, or even more hours straight!!!
Honestly, I don't see any harm in it!!!
It just makes you feel totally in control, like you're on top of the world or something!!!

I’m looking at maybe five hours during the week, but once the weekend hits, I can easily sink ten or twelve hours—sometimes even more into whatever I'm doing.!!!
Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with that.!!!
It actually makes you feel pretty capable, almost like you're on top of the world.!!!

I just don't get how anyone could possibly believe they are powerful just because they're online.

Quincy:
[FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif,verdana,geneva]Washington, D.C.— 'Mom, make me a sandwich...'—that was the exact text a 10-year-old girl sent from her bedroom via PC to her mom in the kitchen after spending a few hours scrolling online.

lmaooo this is wild man 😂 😂 😂 😂

🤣 The internet is pure EVIL.

The absolute worst part is when I’m just sitting there having coffee and I catch myself thinking, "Man, I really wish I could just drop that one specific Reddit gold reaction—the guy slamming his hand on the floor while he loses it laughing." 😂 That’s the exact moment you realize you’re officially hooked. 😲

Honestly, the worst part for me is when I’m out grabbing coffee and I catch myself thinking, "Man, I really wish I could just drop that one specific Reddit gold emoji—you know, the one where the guy is pounding the floor laughing." 😂 That's basically the moment you realize you're officially hooked. 😲

Ugh, tell me about it... seriously, same hereeeee! 🙏 🙏 🙏

It’s such a weird, almost gross feeling, right? I feel like I can't even express myself properly in text anymore without reaching for our usual emojis. It's funny because I think everyone has kind of fallen into the same trap—so now I just throw a little vibe in parentheses :fuckinghell: 😲 😬

it's a known fact 😬

I swear, I've been so close to typing out names in my texts so many times, but then I remember the people I'm talking to would have absolutely no clue what the hell I'm talking about.😢

I feel the exact same way...

My breaking point is usually when I'm out at a diner and the waiter accidentally spills hot coffee all over my lap, and my first instinct isn't to yell—it's to think, "If I were back on the forum right now, I'd be absolutely roasting this guy." Instead, I just sit there in silence like a loser, too stunned to say anything.

Gerald Johnson4 said:How can anyone actually be delusional enough to think they have any kind of power on the internet????

Look, maybe not everyone, but Internet-moć is a very real thing. You've got the massive media conglomerates, the giant search engines, those massive corporations that basically exist just to push ads at you constantly—plus, let's not forget the mods and admins running the big, influential forums. They definitely hold some sway...
Some people just have an ego trip, sure, but others actually wield real influence...

Well, look at you go! You’re busy comparing yourself to giants instead of just regular people... I mean, everyone knows those massive corporations are powerful, but you don't actually own Google or Yahoo or eBay... most hackers can't even dream of being that influential, let alone your average user on an online forum...
And as for those little smiley faces... I honestly don't even know what to say about that.

lol, yeah, me neither. Even when I'm grinding out a college term paper or drafting formal emails at work, I get this urge to slap an emoji in there—acting all pathetic with a "unfortunately, I didn't make the deadline" or adding a little smirk next to a snarky comment in a research paper 🤣 lol, it's UNBELIEVABLE.

For me, the absolute worst part is being at a coffee shop and having some waiter spill scalding hot coffee right in my lap. In that moment, all I can think is, "Man, if we were back on the forum, I'd be tearing you a new one," but instead, I just sit there in silence like a total pushover. What am I even supposed to do?

Yeah, I remember this hilarious little video on YouTube that perfectly captured the massive gap between life online and reality. It showed people having these polite, civilized political debates in person—everyone acting so incredibly tolerant and kind. You know the drill: "I disagree with your stance, but I respect your right to hold it," or "I'm not a fan of the Republicans, but I believe in free speech." Then, you look at the exact same group of people on the internet, and it’s a complete bloodbath. It's just pure vitriol: "You motherf***er, all Republicans should drop dead! Your entire worldview is garbage!" Just constant, unhinged outbursts. 🤣
Sadly, they pulled the video from YouTube 😢 (http://www.youtube.com/index?&sessio...VzcQhdcQl1Lg==)
