But if they don't... 🙂 😬

I generally try to avoid conflict. If someone is argumentative, arrogant, or just plain foolish... I simply cut them out of my life. If they insult me, I strike back. I won't just sit there and take it.

Personally, I feel uneasy when I retaliate against an insult. I hate being dragged into that kind of mess.

how is it even possible for someone to be nice to absolutely everyone, trying so hard to stay on everyone's good side, and then just laugh off any kind of insult?

It sounds pretty perfect on paper... but...

Honestly, it’s not ideal at all. I mean, to me, it just looks like a massive level of being totally indifferent, maybe even a bit fake, plus this desperate need to be loved by the whole world. I guess I wouldn't envy that situation one bit.

Yeah, engaging with idiots is a losing game—I've learned that lesson the hard way already...

That said, if I'm just returning fire, I don't feel bad about it. In fact... 😈
I’d only feel guilty if I were the one to throw the first punch.

You’re mixing up people who are just suck-ups with people who either don't have a clue or just can't bring themselves to start a fight....
I’m not out here kissing anyone's butt, I just genuinely want to help whenever I can. I’ve never been the type to snap at someone—which is actually why things went down the way they did with my mother-in-law, if you saw that thread I started. Even when people hurt me, I don't really know how to hold onto hate. It's just how I am; I prefer being kind to everyone.
Honestly, I couldn't handle the idea of someone thinking I'm some kind of pushover, but that's really it... when people throw insults my way, I usually just laugh it off and never fire back.

I don't suck up to anyone. I'm just willing to help whenever I can. I never snap at people—which is actually why I had that issue with my mother-in-law and started this thread... even when I get hurt, I don't know how to hold a grudge. I just prefer being kind to everyone
I couldn't stand the thought of someone seeing me as a pushover. That's all there is to it... when people insult me, I just laugh it off. I never strike back

👍 A great mindset.

It’s all an act until they actually hit their goals—then they start ghosting everyone they don't need anymore and only play nice with the people who can do something for them.
Been there, seen that, happens way too often. 🙂

I'm with you on this.

I had someone like that right in my inner circle once—I even went out of my way to tell them exactly what I thought of them, but the next day? They were back at my door acting like nothing happened. All they wanted were my study guides and class notes. Once they graduated from college, they only reached out when they needed a favor.

Well, I made sure to cut them out of my life for good!

Honestly, I just have zero patience 🤮 for those kinds of personalities.

Listen, you don't need everyone to like you.
If you already know someone isn't on your side, just walk away...
Keep your self-respect intact.
Having self-respect feels good...

I don't think I could ever live like that.

People like that eventually end up like those troubled kids you see in the news here in the USA; one day everything just snaps, they grab a weapon, and they cause absolute chaos.

But why on earth would you call that ideal? Imagine if everyone was like that—there’d be zero progress because there wouldn't be any raw energy driving change. And without change, you get nowhere. Everything would be too perfect if everyone acted that way. These people are necessary, sure, like shock absorbers, but I wouldn't call it an ideal state. It's like saying water is the most important requirement for life. But what good is water without heat... without minerals... pure H2O is cool, but it isn't the whole picture.

Damn, cheers 🙏 🙏

through reason. Yeah. Same here. My brain won't give my heart or my ego any breathing room. Now I have to use logic just to figure out if it actually makes sense to let my ego do something on its own terms right now. What kind of nonsense is 🙄 🙄
