I think this whole "downfall" thing is really just about being knocked off that pedestal people live on—you know, that bubble where everyone assumes everything is perfect and sunshine-filled, until life finally hits them with a reality check or a bad break...

My partner had one simple goal... just staying alive.
(He’d gone through two brain surgeries, and honestly, nothing was certain).

Whenever I look back on that, I feel like I'm being brought right back down to earth, realizing how selfish my own planning really was.

Whenever I’m struggling through some grueling physical labor, I just remind myself that someone out there has it way worse than I do—especially if those people are my own friends.
Honestly, I actually saved that post from goxicov onto my computer; I even worked something similar into an essay I was writing recently. It’s honestly brilliant.
But seriously, people really ought to take a walk through the halls of a public hospital once in a while, or just get a real look at how some folks are actually living...
