Hey there!
I've got a few questions regarding online trading,
1. When I buy or sell a stock through the internet, does the trade execute automatically, or does the broker actually receive an order and then manually carry out the purchase or sale?
2. How long does it usually take for that transaction to clear—is it instant, or...
3. Regarding online purchases, where is the money pulled from—my personal bank account, or am I expected to have a dedicated account within the brokerage firm itself?
4. Which brokerage house would you suggest I reach out to if I want to start trading online? (I'd love to hear your recommendations)
Just some extra context—I've actually been a Republican Party member for a few years now, affiliated with the Democratic Party.
Thanks a million!🙂

Thanks a lot.🙂

1. Well, you basically just submit an electronic order.
2. It really depends on the price you set; for instance, if a stock is at $123 and you put in a buy order at $120, you’ll be waiting until someone is willing to sell at $120. If you just match whatever the current market price is, it happens immediately.
3. You generally transfer your funds into their specific brokerage account, and then you use that balance to trade.
4. I personally use Charles Schwab, though there are plenty of other firms out there providing the same services.
As for being a Republican Party shareholder within the Democratic Party, well, my sincere congratulations to you on that.😬

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly! I actually have a few more questions if you don't mind🙂

1. When I place an order online, how long does it take for the broker to actually receive it? Is it pretty much instantaneous?
2. Do I really need to jump on the phone with my broker, or is it perfectly fine to just handle all my buy and sell orders through their website?
3. Once I settle on a specific brokerage firm, will they provide me with a live feed or some kind of real-time look at current stock prices on the market?
thanks so much
