Email issues on my laptop

Hey everyone.
Just picked up a new laptop and I'm trying to sync my email from my old computer over to Google Workspace.
I went through the motions and copied all the settings—incoming, outgoing, ports, everything—but I keep getting hit with an SMTP server error.
Any idea what I'm missing here?

Are we talking about a private server here? Or are you using a standard provider like Gmail or Outlook?

If it’s a private setup, have you actually configured the username and password credentials directly on the server itself?

Can you actually receive emails?

It's private, I think. The domain belongs to some non-profit organization.
I can log in via webmail just fine.

I haven't even gotten that far. Just finished installing macOS and Google Workspace.
When I launch the mail client, the setup wizard pops up, but once I enter everything, it throws an error for the outgoing SMTP. The settings are identical to another computer where it works perfectly.
Tried swapping the outgoing server, but no luck.

EDIT: Never mind. Set it to Gmail just to test, and it works fine.

Go to your control panel and just search "mail" in the top bar. You should see Mail 32 pop up—use that to set up the account. This newer version of Outlook acts weird with domains if they aren't some big, household name.
You probably need to set the outgoing server to SSL on port 465 with authentication enabled.
