How long does it actually take for wounds to heal? How much time do you need to move past someone you once loved? I know you can't ever truly erase someone from your memory if they meant something to you, but how long until you can finally let go and move on? Is it months? Years? Five? Ten? Or maybe never? It’s been almost two years now, and honestly, I've sabotaged so many potential relationships because of this. It feels like my whole life took a wrong turn in a single moment—like I hit a dead end and there's no way to turn back.

Honestly, maybe it’s easier to just let that part of your heart go rather than trying to fix what's broken...

I know how it feels. But for me, it just kind of happened out of nowhere. She was right there next to me, and she really needed someone to step up. At first, I just felt for her and helped her out as a friend. I wasn't looking for anything serious, even though I did think she was cute. Over time, we just clicked and eventually fell in love. I honestly don't regret it for a second. I get that you're at a point where you're terrified of getting burned again, but life keeps moving, I guess. Love is one of those things that heals you one minute and breaks your heart the next. Even though it’s tough right now, maybe you just have to grit your teeth and let people back in. I stumbled into a second chance I wasn't even looking for, and turns out, I was totally wrong about not wanting it. Try to learn from the pain, but I guess try to figure out the real reasons why things went south instead of just assuming everything is bad. Life is way too short to spend it mourning the past. I really hope you make it through this.

Man, honestly? That's completely subjective... it depends on a million different variables.

Exactly as long as it takes.

It isn't just easier—it's pretty much the only way if you want to actually live a meaningful life.🙂 🙂 I mean, it's worth considering that this whole "heart" thing is basically a bottomless pit, really.😬 😍 You have to be able to throw love around like some billionaire on a spending spree, just so you don't feel the void.

Ah, if you have ever truly loved someone, they never really leave you. They stay etched into your mind. The wounds... they don't just vanish. You simply learn how to live with them, how to carry them, and eventually, how to use that very ache to build some semblance of strength to move forward. 😉

I honestly think it’s incredibly selfish to try and seal off your heart just because you got burned once.
If you actually stop and think about it, it’s just plain stupid to slam the door and shutter all the windows against every well-meaning stranger who might actually bring something good into your life, all because you're terrified of being abandoned again. Instead of being glad you finally shook off that total loser—that toxic, immature mess that clearly put you through enough hell already--you should be moving on. 😉
Every new person you see out there, the ones you catch yourself staring at awkwardly on a street corner in Chicago while you're still moping over the past? They're every bit as interesting (and exhausting) as that old flame you can't let go of... I mean, seriously, it’s all the same stuff. There isn't some one "soulmate" worth suffering for; you just pick someone who makes life a little more fun. 🙂

I’ve come to the conclusion that sealing off your heart after an emotional wreck is nothing more than a terrifyingly selfish luxury.
When you actually sit down and look at the wreckage, it seems incredibly foolish to bolt the doors and shutter the windows against every well-meaning stranger passing by—someone who might actually bring a bit of light into your life—just because you’re paralyzed by the fear of being abandoned again. Instead of finding peace in the fact that you’ve finally shed the weight of some toxic, draining, immature mess that clearly wasn't worth your sanity in the first place... 😉
every new person out there, watching you from the sidewalk while you stare blankly into space, mourning a ghost, is at least just as interesting (and just as exhausting) as that old flame you can't let go of. Honestly, it all evens out in the end. There isn't one specific person worth suffering for; you simply pick someone who makes the ride through life a little less tedious. 🙂

Dooooobar !!!! 🙏

Perhaps you’ll find yourself over it in a month, or maybe it will take a year, or perhaps even a decade; you might move on once you meet that one special person, or you might simply carry the memory forever. Who can truly say where life's unpredictable paths might lead you? 🙂

I believe that’s a deeply personal and private matter.

Some people find it easier to move on by jumping straight into a new relationship, while others need to retreat into their own corner of the universe to heal before they're ready to try again. Then there are those who just pretend nothing ever happened...

And I honestly think it's incredibly selfish to label any of these approaches as "wrong."

Look,
Olivia Lopez41

I know exactly how it feels to be cheated on because I’m going through the same thing right now.
It hurts like hell... and you can't just move on from someone. If you don't try your hardest to find some backbone and get brave, you'll never get past it.
I was with my guy for two years, and then just yesterday, I saw him kissing some other girl. We hadn't even been broken up for three months.

That's why I'm staying strong and trying not to dwell on it.
Sometimes I feel like breaking down and crying... but whatever.
Don't sit there reminiscing about all the good times you had with them. Just focus on the bad stuff instead.
🙂Good luck!

Everything just aches. You can't really move past someone unless you dig deep, find some courage, and give it everything you've got. Otherwise, you're stuck.

The person I loved is gone from my life for good. I won't see them again—not alone, and not with anyone else. They're just gone.

😢 That is just the absolute worst. Honestly, I’m at a loss for words—I don't even know if there's anything I could possibly say to make this better...
Hang in there... hopefully, one day, the memories will start bringing you more joy than heartache.
