I want to park some cash in savings, but I don't want to lock it into a CD because I have no idea when I might actually need it—could be next month, could be a year from now. I was looking at Chase, but even that isn't a sure thing. Which bank is actually offering the best interest rates right now? Also, what exactly is a high-yield savings account?

An easy-access savings account is just liquid cash—it’s exactly what you’re looking for, where you can grab your money whenever you need it without any hassle...

Right now, the best deal I've seen is with

Capital One — their savings account offers around 3.25% APY, variable of course, you can move funds easily through online banking—and they don't charge those annoying monthly maintenance fees, plus interest hits your account every month.

I think Wells Fargo had a promo at 3.50% recently, but I don't see it on their site anymore—they might have pulled the offer already...

Quick question. Just a hypothetical here. If I had some savings sitting there and the interest rate was actually negative, would the standard continuous compounding formula still work?

So, if we're looking at a -3% rate, would the math look like (1 + r) = (1 - 0.03)?

Never mind, that was a pretty silly question.
