True, but I am fairly certain the average American will just end up voting for the exact same guy all over again. And honestly, what is there left to say besides showing up and telling that individual straight to his face that he is an absolute idiot?

Emily Smith6 said:Prefect Žinić: I think I’ve earned one more term

He actually stated he’s running for a third term as prefect: "Based on everything I’ve accomplished over these last seven years, I believe I've earned another mandate."

"I don't see any scandals here. I've already addressed all of that. Everything was done strictly according to the law and regulations. There are certain ongoing proceedings which, I suspect, might even be resolved ahead of schedule." He added, "Between my thirty years in the party and my work since the start of the American War of Independence—from post-war reconstruction to today—I have always worked for the common good. People recognize that," he said.

Honestly, these people have no shame. It seems like once they finally leave politics, they can't find jobs anywhere else. They are either completely addicted to the lifestyle or, perhaps more likely, they just find things too comfortable there compared to the private sector—good pay, zero actual effort required.

As far as Žinić is concerned—everything that came to light about him back in January and February was already on the table during the last couple of local election cycles. It didn't sink him then, and it won't sink him this May either.

Now it’s just up to the voters to decide whether they want to stay loyal to their favorite Governor or stick with the political party he originally came from.

I mean, damn. It’s pretty gross when someone spends their entire life riding someone else's coattails. You end up raising your kids that way, too, teaching them they can just grab whatever they want, regardless of whether they actually deserve it or not.
Where do these incompetent idiots go? There isn't much choice but for them to just cling on with everything they've got as long as the ride keeps going...

The only reason he might actually lose his next term is because he had the nerve to leave the Republican Party. If he had just stayed loyal to the party, he wouldn't even be campaigning; that third term would be a sure thing, even with all the mess that surfaced after the earthquake. He can keep whining about how the region is dying and how the youth are fleeing to cities like Chicago or New York if he wants to. Democracy is a beautiful thing, really—everyone eventually gets exactly what they deserve, don't they?

He wouldn't have been granted a new mandate anyway; they wouldn't have even let him run. His only real move was to sit tight and wait for them to hand him some cushy sinecure. But, of course, he just had to go out there and start making noise right when things were settling down.
It’s pretty obvious he thinks he can pull a stunt like Milinović did back in rural Tennessee, but let's be honest, Milinović is a bit sharper than this guy.

I stumbled upon an article yesterday discussing long-term mayors, and frankly, I wasn't surprised. In small towns, once people really dig in, politics turns into a mix of family ties, kinship, and business interests. How successful that is for anyone outside "the system" is a different story entirely. Perhaps someone will write a deeper piece on that.

What was that slogan again? "4 + digitalization"?

It’s just more of the same—setting up new bureaucratic hubs, agencies, and chambers... just creating fresh seats for political cronies while everyone else packs their bags for Ireland or Germany...

They just held a presentation for this project—creating technical documentation for building a Regional Center for Digitalization and Development.

Just take a look at the crowd of political appointees gathered there—it feels like they're only interested in lining their own pockets...

How prestigious it sounds: Dr. Mario Banožić

How does someone who fails remedial classes in high school eventually become a doctor of science?

It’s obvious...

Exactly. Even when you look at the math, there's no way the majority of voters are actually connected like that, yet people still just follow the herd.

Hundreds of semi-trucks haul stuff through America or across the border, and neither the police nor customs seem to give a damn.
Foreigners are basically picking us clean under the guise of "renewable energy"—they get to dump their wind farms on us for next to nothing, and now we're stuck paying for them like they’re made of solid gold.
The Republican Party paved the way for this, with the Democratic Party playing a small part since they weren't in power for long.

It’s not just the forests, it’s the coast too.

''While everyone's distracted by the pandemic, experts are warning that illegal beach expansions have been killing off local wildlife along the Atlantic coast for months now.

Everyone we talked to thinks the issue is that cities and towns are trying to cut corners on beach nourishment costs, so they end up using cheap construction debris or dirt that someone just wants to get rid of for free.

Anything left worth stealing will be looted under the direction of the Criminal.

They clearcut the forests, pollute the oceans, air, and water, destroy the coastline, and shamelessly strip-mine gravel and stone. They tear up the woods and ruin the farmland.

Meanwhile, the healthy and mobile segments of the population simply leave.

The Republican Party’s latest directive for local candidates seems pretty clear: ‘Make sure to praise the government covid stimulus!’
Even on Joe Biden's Facebook profile, there’s an ad running about those covid stimulus checks for seniors, which was apparently funded by the Republican Party itself.

What a complete joke 🤣

But honestly, it looks like they really blew it this time. You can see it in people's faces—even on camera, folks are just rolling their eyes. It’s pretty obvious that nobody would ever vote for them, let alone support whatever money they're trying to push through 🤣

Leaked email from the Republican Party campaign manager: Tell retirees about the government covid stimulus

The most interesting part, I think, is how the email wraps up. There’s an explicit instruction to Republicans to bring up the government covid stimulus when talking to retirees during the campaign—even though, supposedly, it has nothing to do with the election itself. To make matters even more pointed, Milas mentions in that final sentence that he's attached specific details regarding this stimulus so that Republicans have the right talking points ready for seniors.

"Attached (PDF) is information regarding the US Federal Government's covid stimulus for retirees—our most vulnerable population—so please communicate this info to everyone in your circles who might qualify," Milas concludes in his message to the Republicans.

It’s honestly pretty shameful to watch them operate like this—referring to retirees—the most vulnerable segment of our society—just so they can cling to power at any cost through whatever manipulations they see fit.

I think the sheer extent of this shamelessness is highlighted by the fact that local elections—specifically those for municipal and county governments—really have nothing to do with the government covid stimulus issued by the US Federal Government.

I imagine someone might actually end up voting for the current mayor of a small town like Glina based on this stimulus money, even though there isn't any actual connection there.

It's really just basic political structure.

They truly seem to think we are fools.

People will vote for him simply because they're terrified for their own lives—and their families' lives—no matter how broke they might be.

I was just watching Paul Bradbury on PBS, and honestly... it’s enough to make you weep when you realize a foreigner is working harder to promote your own country and its main industry—tourism—than you are yourselves. It really hits home how much this culture of party-driven hiring for vital roles acts like a millstone around our necks, steadily pulling us toward the bottom...

What else can they do?
There are zero jobs, and the cost of living here is absolutely insane. Just look at how much it costs to heat a basic 600-square-foot apartment in Washington, D.C., even if you actually own it.
You either lose your mind, get sick, or go completely broke.
Unemployed Washington, D.C. residents spend every morning watching government bureaucrats, state employees, and those lucky few in the private sector cruise into work in nice cars, only to head home in the afternoon.
The unemployed just sit there in despair, sending out resumes for the few jobs available until they eventually rot. When they finally hit their breaking point, they move abroad, where they struggle just as hard working entry-level jobs that are way beneath their actual skill sets.
Back home, that pack of thieves just keeps stealing, grabbing, and looting like this will last forever. It won't, but by then, everything will already be gutted and gone.☕

The thing is, if you’re out of work, you can't just pack your bags and head out on a whim because everything has a price tag attached to it. Most people are basically stuck in survival mode, just trying to scrape by on government assistance...
It's especially brutal right now since the tourism and construction industries are hitting such a massive slump, making it incredibly tough to find a decent job anywhere.

EXCLUSIVE: It’s not just VICE MIHANOVIĆ: How a van full of Republican cronies was chauffeured off to grab PhDs in Osijek—and what they have to do with a university halfway across the country.

The Republican Party is worse than the plague. I’m being dead serious about that one.
