Aside from my own, I’ve always had a huge soft spot for Italian anthemsβ€”and especially the South African anthem, Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika.

The way it's structured today is pretty wildβ€”it has four stanzas covering the four most common languages in South Africa: Zulu, xhosa, Afrikaans, and English. It definitely makes it one of the most unique anthems out there.

Personally, I think the Polish anthem hits just as hard.

Russia is light years ahead of everyone else, especially this version

Absolute peak... giving me actual chills πŸ™

After the Russian stuff, I’d say the Bulgarian tracks hit hardest for me

Still got Italian, Spanish, and Ukrainian on my radar too πŸ‘

For me, that one is absolutely the greatestβ€”though I wouldn't call it Russian, more accurately Soviet...

Here is another one in that same veinβ€”this time, actually from a VIDEO GAME... 😲

The British national anthem is my absolute favorite, and I honestly think their flag is the most beautiful one out there.
(And no, I’m not just being biased here 🍿)

Just look at these beauties πŸ™, (honestly the anthem is essentially a prayer which happens to be the only one I actually know.

(While everyone else is singing about mindless scenery, mountains, "natural wonders," or other nonsense, the British pray to God to strike down all enemies of the Kingdom and ask Him to protect the Queen and the nation. 😍 It seems they’re smarter than the rest when it comes to choosing an anthem. If you ask me, they nailed it. )

I suspect the Queen possesses roughly the same amount of decision-making power as this:
so, frankly, I can't imagine anyone actually wanting to cause her any trouble. 😬

I can only sum this up in three words: V for Vendetta...

Adolf Hitlerβ€”though I suspect SamardΕΎiΔ‡ would just respond with a crude insult toward his own sister β˜•

That anthem actually traces back to Gregorian chant (those liturgical chants used in medieval churches and still heard today) and was originally God Save the King. 😬

And things were absolute chaos during the Middle Ages, for sure...

Just look at these 'pagans' here 😲

the European Union anthem

Joy, beautiful sparkle of the gods,
Daughter of Elysium
!

WTH is this??? 🀣

Joy, beautiful sparkle of the gods,
Daughter of Elysium!

We enter, intoxicated by fire,
Heavenly one, your shrine.

Your magic once more unites
What tradition has torn apart.

All men become brothers
Where Your tender wing lingers.

Whoever Has Had The Great fortuna to be a friend's friend ,
Whoever Has won a devoted wife ,

Join in Our jubilation!

Truly, anyone who can claim just one soul,
As their own on this earth!

And those who never could, must crawl
Tearfully away from this circle!

Truly, anyone who can claim just one soul, His own on this earth
!

And those who never could, must crawl
Tearfully away from this circle!
Joy, beautiful sparkle of the gods,
Daughter of Elysium!

It feels a bit like a reworked version of the 'Germany' anthem, actually. 😍 One, two, threeβ€”let's go... everyone to Germany!

Now, jokes asideβ€”this is an ode to paganism and clearly to that well-known Germanic/Germanic vision of Europe.

'Tenor' Mr. Bean sings the 'Ode'. πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

I’ve got to say, I'm also a fan of the Ukraine anthem.

You can really hear it in that Ukrainian anthemβ€”it's obvious how much they've hungered for freedom and to finally be independent from Russia.

It’s Mongolia, I suppose, since I happened to stumble upon it earlier.

If this has already been covered, please excuse me, modsβ€”don't ban me! πŸ™‚ You could even jump over to the thread about Mexico if you want, that actually got me thinking.

So, which national anthem is your absolute favorite? Any options are fair game here.
Personally, I think this version of the Russian anthem hits different.

My top pick, though, has to be "You Are the One," β˜•

Wait, whose anthem we're talking about?! πŸ™‚
I don't really have a personal favorite, though our own was always the one for us.
There is only one true anthem, after allβ€”it isn't like we have hundreds to choose from.

Mexico is absolutely killing it for me.

But hey, you can't just ignore Russia, France, and obviously America either. πŸ‘
