Grehota, aiming for just a 1050Ti in a gaming build costing over $800 is a mistake. In my opinion, you should save money (in this order) on the case, the SSD, and the power supply—you could even ditch the optical drive since you probably don't need it—to squeeze in a GTX 1060 6 instead. Also, don't shop at Best Buy unless you're using a payment plan.

crimsonstag84 put together a killer build for just over $700 in that other thread. You should take a page out of that book, especially since you have extra wiggle room to beef things up wherever you saved cash.

A budget of $2667 paired with a 1050Ti is a NO-GO, regardless of how early you're shopping.

I guess you could also mention what kind of resolution someone would be playing at?

That RAM isn't meant for a desktop PC.

Swap out the HDD for a 500GB SSD instead, and if you really want that tempered glass look for the case, it’s an easy click:

I didn't include a soldering iron—partly to keep the budget tight, and partly because its utility here is questionable.

The GTX 1060 6gb is definitely the better pick (unless you stumble upon a killer used deal, like a gtx 970 with $433, or maybe pay a bit more if it comes with a warranty). Before the GPU mining craze, these were going for up to 2500/$867, but now you're "only" overpaying by about $167, which isn't actually terrible given the current market where graphics cards have spiked by 40% to 100%.

Hey, instead of starting a whole new thread, I figured I’d just drop this here—I’m looking for a build around the $8k mark (mainly for gaming, movies, and some AutoCAD work), so if anyone could whip something up for me... 🙂 I can pay cash, or we can just do an order through Amazon or one of our local shops like Best Buy.

A few ground rules:
CPU - strictly Intel
GPU - gotta be GeForce
SSD - nothing bigger than 256 GB should be necessary
Don't worry about a hard drive, I'll just scavenge one from my old rig if I really need it

Anyway, the main goal is to run this (which I'm assuming is totally doable with an $8k budget, right?...) 🙂
My monitor is a Dell HD 24, just in case that matters for the setup.
The sooner the better, I'm actually ready to pull the trigger today.

I'm digging the beefier power supply, though—that's a nice touch. Just help me find a different case, because honestly... I'm just not feeling that blue color. 😁 Maybe something black or red? And I have no clue if all these brands out there are actually any good or if they’ll even fit this specific setup... I mean, if that's even a thing you can do... 🙂

They should be essentially the same graphics cards. The main thing is to make sure you get one with dual fans and a three-year warranty.
The case comes in an identical version in a different color too, though you could probably just pick whichever one you like best yourself.

So, I ended up pulling the trigger on Smarticov’s offer, but I went with a different case instead... thanks to both of you guys! 🙂
