nevia lazaros said:Seriously, this just gets worse. These friars are absolutely driving me up the wall—just a bunch of frustrated, incompetent fools. Why can't they just leave the kids alone? And honestly, who is even holding them accountable? It feels like they just shuffle them from one island to another—like moving someone from Martha's Vineyard to Mackinac Island—just to give them more opportunities to cause chaos. When you see this kind of behavior, how can anyone justify letting children attend religious education or go to church at all? I’m still reeling from that absolute disaster, Brayden. I remember telling people once that I believe in God, but I have zero respect for the clergy—I wouldn't trust a priest to tell me if it was Thursday or Friday.😈

That's an interesting way to look at it... but it makes you wonder: how many fathers and grandfathers are out there being just as hard on their sons and daughters? If that's the case, what does that say about the legacy of the fathers and grandfathers themselves?

CLEVELAND - Local police have arrested 63-year-old Drago Ljubičić, a priest from the Diocese of Rockville Centre, on suspicion of abusing five boys between the ages of 10 and 12. Authorities haven't released specific details regarding the locations or the timeline of the alleged crimes.

Daniel Delonga, a spokesperson for the Archdiocese of New York, confirmed the arrest of the priest from the Diocese of Rockville Centre. He relayed a message from Archbishop Ivan Devčić stating that "the Church condemns such actions without reservation."

"If these allegations against this priest are proven, it would be a total betrayal of his ministry and all basic human decency," Delonga stated, quoting Archbishop Devčić.

Ljubičić originally served at a parish on Martha's Vineyard before being moved to Manhattan Island—allegedly due to similar conduct—and eventually ending up on Mackinac Island.

p.s. I guess he’s doing just fine for himself elsewhere... if that’s how you want to put it.

It's disgusting how some people abuse their religious positions to satisfy their own sick desires. It's just sick.

Total disgrace. Three thumbs down. 👎 👎 👎 😠

The whole thing is a total wash.

Oh, really? How so? One's an iguana and the other's a schnauzer—so they just don't belong to the same species?

It isn't about wearing fancy robes or singing hymns—it’s about the duty to spread faith and Christ's teachings. That is arguably the greatest responsibility any man could ever shoulder.

That's how it ought to work, I guess. But you see this level of hypocrisy in these people that is just appalling, which leads to this kind of behavior. We need to be constantly scrutinizing the church because of this, especially since they only seem to react after things have already gone south...

Word is that Vlado Bosner from the Rijeka District Court just let priest Drago Ljubičić walk free, even after those charges involving five kids on Martha's Vineyard.
He’s just banned him from talking to the minors or their parents involved in the case, I guess.
Ljubičić left the courthouse with Ivan Kordić, the general vicar for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Apparently, this disgraced priest is being sent off to some monastery far away from everyone.

Is this actually justice?

Look, I guess it’s just how it works. Churches always have to protect their own reputation... Some even get the government to help them out (and I mean globally, not just in places like the US or Mexico where we see the freshest examples of this).

And then they act surprised when nobody shows up to service.
If anyone else pulled that stunt, they'd be finished.
I still remember Pahomije... what a joke. Not even convicted despite all the evidence against him.

That would probably solve a ton of issues, including the whole pedophilia thing.
Doesn't that sound kind of familiar to you?

The court just needs to rule based on the law, like they do for everyone else committing the same crimes.
But then again, maybe the courts just let them off with a slap on the wrist while the Church moves them somewhere else.

p.s. In the European Union, even sharing those kinds of images online can land you in prison.

antraks said:you didn't answer me, so let me clarify
doesn't this whole crusade against pedophile priests remind you of how everyone branded the clergy traitors back in '45?
as for the USA, a lot of those creeps managed to slip away there too, unfortunately
anyone browsing porn online eventually stumbles onto the child stuff
which mostly comes from us "model" Westerners, from our European and American brothers (mostly atheists)

That comparison doesn't really hold water.
Comparing the way Communists went after the Church due to ideology and class warfare in '45—when they were also trying to seize all their land and property—to specific cases of pedophilia in an era where people actually have religious freedom... it's different.
The more the internet expands, the more room there is for abuse. I guess we'll see the same issues here once the web becomes even more widespread..

So you think the attacks on pedophile priests are a smear campaign?
If you ask me, what's happening isn't even 10% of the actual reality.
It’s like rape cases; only a tiny fraction ever get reported.

p.s. Just remembered a case from my hometown, some guys ended up in prison and were just bragging about how many women they screwed over and how one "bitch" actually reported them.
