I was watching some highlights from the recent games last night, and it got me thinking about how much the "technicalities" are starting to dominate competitive sports. We used to just watch the finish line, celebrate the winner, and move on. Now, it feels like every major victory is subject to a boardroom review or a post-race investigation.
Don't get me wrong, I get that rules are rules and integrity matters. If someone breaks a regulation, they should face the consequences. But there’s a certain heartbreak in seeing a moment of pure, hard-earned triumph essentially wiped off the board because of a procedural dispute. It feels like the human element—the sweat, the grit, the actual physical achievement—is being sidelined by paperwork and appeals.
It makes me wonder if we're heading toward a future where the results on the screen are just "provisional" until the lawyers finish their coffee. Does anyone else feel like the spirit of the competition is getting lost in all these re-runs and technical disputes?
