I’ve been watching a lot of the pre-game analysis lately, and it feels like every single matchup is being framed as this massive, era-defining clash. It’s getting a bit exhausting. One team is "riding a wave of momentum," the other is "due for a massive upset," and suddenly a regular-season game feels like the Super Bowl.

I remember back in college, we used to get so worked up about these specific "clash of titans" narratives, only to watch a game that was mostly just sloppy play and missed tackles. It feels like the media tries to force these storylines onto us to make the schedule seem more important than it actually is. Sometimes a game is just a game, and the "rest advantage" or "conference rivalry" fluff doesn't actually change how the players perform on the field.

Do you guys think these heavy pre-game narratives actually influence how fans (or even the players) approach the game, or is it all just noise to drive up viewership?
