I was watching some old highlights last night and started thinking about those massive "dream scenarios" that never actually happen. You know the ones—where a team seems perfectly positioned to land a generational superstar, and the entire league holds its breath, only for everything to just... fizzle out.

It’s always fascinating to me how these massive pursuit windows slam shut. Usually, it isn't even one big dramatic moment that kills the deal; it's more like a series of small decisions, or just a fundamental disagreement on how to build a roster. One team wants to go all-in on a specific vision, while the talent involved is looking for something completely different.

In my opinion, these "near misses" define a franchise's legacy just as much as their actual championships do. It leaves fans wondering if a single different choice could have completely rewritten the history books for a decade.

Do you guys think teams should take those massive, high-stakes risks to chase a legend, or is it smarter to just stick to your core identity and build steadily?
