I was watching some highlights last night and it really hit me how much of a "business" professional sports has become lately. It’s not even about the players staying at a club and building a legacy anymore; it feels like a constant, high-stakes game of musical chairs.
One minute a player is the face of a franchise, and the next, they're being shuffled across borders to a completely different league because of some tactical reshuffle or a sudden vacancy elsewhere. It’s wild to think about the mental toll that must take on the athletes. Imagine being told you're moving halfway across the world just because a specific position opened up in a different country.
I used to love following teams because you felt like you knew the roster for years. Now, it feels like the lineup changes every single transfer window. It makes it hard to actually get invested in the "soul" of a club when the personnel is so fluid.
Do you guys think this constant movement is actually good for the growth of the game, or is it just stripping away the tradition that made us fans in the first place?
