I’ve been watching a lot of recent transfer news lately, and I can't help but feel like we're living in an era of extreme reputation building. It feels like every time a manager or a high-level scout speaks, they immediately start building up these "next big things" to justify the massive investments being made.

It makes me wonder how much of a player's actual value is based on their performance on the pitch versus how much is just clever PR from their former coaches. I remember a few years back when everyone was convinced a certain mid-tier striker was going to be the next global superstar just because his old manager wouldn't stop raving about him, and it turned out to be a total bust.

Do you guys think we should take these glowing endorsements from former staff seriously, or is it mostly just professional courtesy and hype to boost a player's market value?
