Many in the Black American community are feeling pretty frustrated with this movie—criticizing it for romanticizing African tribes and glossing over their actual role in the Atlantic slave trade.

Look, the truth is uncomfortable, because they really did contribute quite a lot.

Not a bad flick. Solid action with some really tight cold weapon fight scenes. And the veteran actress playing the general is incredible—she definitely deserves an Academy Award nod. Plus, the kid playing the rookie is a total standout. It’s a great movie to just chill to with a big Coke and a bucket of popcorn. 🍿

This is one of those movies you just put on to zone out. I mean, it isn't exactly going to leave you sitting there pondering the deep mysteries of the universe or anything, but the action is pretty decent and the time passes fast enough. Honestly, it feels like this was made purely to push some new Black culture onto the screen—which, personally, I just don't really get. Don't even bother looking for historical accuracy here because it’s got zero connection to actual history; it's more like sci-fi than anything else.

Absolute garbage movie. Honestly, feels like I just wasted half an hour of my life for nothing.
