I was watching some highlights last night and started thinking about how much we obsess over "potential" versus actual, proven stability. It feels like every single week there's a new name being floated as the "future" of a certain position, only for them to disappear into the mid-table void a year later.
It’s honestly exhausting to follow. I remember being so hyped for certain players back in the day, convinced they were going to be legends, and now I can barely remember their names. There’s this constant pressure to predict who is going to step up and who is going to move on, but half the time it feels like the rumors are just noise designed to keep us clicking.
I've started leaning more toward valuing the "old guard" or the guys who have already proven they can handle the pressure, rather than chasing the high of a new prospect. The volatility of talent is wild.
Do you guys find yourself getting sucked into the hype of new signings/prospects, or have you reached the point where you just wait until they actually perform on the pitch before caring?
