For instance, I’ve included two snippets from http://www.wingia.com/web/files/news/14/file/14.pdf because I can't seem to upload them directly to this thread, but don't they just perfectly illustrate which countries have high or low levels of religious affiliation?

Seriously, you guys are being such a headache with these massive photos. 🙂

Is it really that much effort to just drop a link to an image instead of letting one photo hijack my entire screen?

It’s like looking at a digital picture book:

Are we reading a news site here, or just scrolling through a scrapbook? 🕺

Oh, one more thing.

If you're really that desperate for people to see your photos, but can't figure out how to post them as a link, just drop a link to a PDF and tell us which page numbers they're on. Anyone who actually cares will click and take a look...

There's no need to annoy everyone else with massive images that take up 3/4 of the screen!!

Personally...
When I run into posts like that, I just skip them. And if I agree with what the commenter is saying, I still end up putting them on my "ignore" list: "Idiot. Don't read."

I completely get where you're coming from regarding the images, and honestly, you have every right to feel that way, because why should we be cluttering things up with endless photos, charts, drawings, and whatnot? It reminds me of something I heard a lifetime ago, back during those old days of heavy-handed authoritarianism and strict censorship, when one of the very first lectures I ever attended included this single line: "A picture is worth a thousand words."

A lot of time has passed since then, hasn't it? Technology has moved mountains, and I think you'll agree that since we've transitioned from physical paper to everything being digital, we're now faced with an overwhelming variety of formats; I won't even start listing them all, from JPGs and PNGs to PDFs and dozens of different CAD files.
1.
So, why shouldn't we let forum members take advantage of all this modern tech?
2.
And more importantly, why is it that we can't post images in the politics section, yet they seem to be allowed on so many other PDF-heavy threads?

Here is my take on why sharing images, photos, diagrams, charts, or tables actually matters, even when you are debating politics or topics closely tied to it.

Imagine there is a heated debate going on about religious demographics—people arguing over the role of faith in society or whether certain values should be taught in schools. If you try to explain which countries have the highest percentage of believers versus where atheism is most prevalent, but you just provide a link to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...ligion_map.png, I honestly feel like you aren't really making a point at all. Why bother if you aren't using a high-quality, credible source to make it visual?

When you actually include the image itself, the whole argument suddenly becomes much clearer and far easier for everyone to digest during a discussion.

I truly don't get the hesitation around posting pictures; it isn't dangerous, weird, or out of line, so what is the actual threat here?
There isn't one, obviously!

We went through this once before and it was a mess; it just turned into a endless loop of photo links, and honestly, I don't see it getting any better.

Look, I hear you, Charles Fox10, but what are we really supposed to do when the rules are set in stone like this?☕
Maybe down the road, we could see some leeway for tiny little thumbnails—say, 300x200 pixels in black and white—and then eventually move up to 640x480, and maybe even 800x600 later on... once everyone here finally grows up and learns some common sense, right?

Who knows, maybe it’s worth a shot to try again, so here’s a little B&W thumbnail that might actually be appropriate for a political discussion.😛

Well, it looks like even a tiny 300x200 image isn't considered safe, so perhaps I should just try starting with something ridiculously small like 120x80 pixels.

What’s the actual issue here? Are you just having trouble posting photo links?

Dear Antilles,
1.
I’m really not one to make a fuss about things, because if we all just learned how to live without constantly looking for trouble, wouldn't we realize that most problems aren't even real?👍
2.
As for those links, I don't post them because my faith won't allow it; I actually established my own personal creed just this morning, and the very first commandment is "Do not post links—post images instead." Isn't it fascinating how someone can go from being completely secular to a true believer overnight?😛

We all know there are various faiths out there, some of which might forbid images entirely, but my particular belief system is the exact opposite of that.
