I was cleaning out my garage this weekend and stumbled upon an old, beat-up jersey from a local tournament I played in back in college. It’s got stains on it, the fabric is starting to pill, and honestly, it looks pretty pathetic sitting in a cardboard box. But man, just holding it brought back the smell of the grass and that specific adrenaline rush right before the whistle blows.
It’s weird how we cling to these physical scraps of paper or old gear. For me, it isn't even about the sport itself anymore; it's more about holding onto the version of myself that actually had that much energy and zero responsibilities. It feels like a tangible link to a time when everything felt high-stakes and meaningful.
I've got a few other random relics scattered around the house, too. Do you guys have any specific pieces of gear or memorabilia that you know are objectively junk, but you just can't bring yourself to part with?
