I was walking through some old neighborhoods the other day and realized how many of those single-screen gems have just... vanished. It feels like every time I turn around, another local landmark has been gutted to make room for a luxury condo or a generic chain drugstore.

Lately, though, I've been seeing a bit of a shift. It seems like there's a renewed interest in those smaller, more intimate venues that actually have some soul left in them. I remember going to the local indie theater in my hometown every Friday night; there was something about the smell of the popcorn and the slightly creaky floorboards that you just can't replicate at a massive megaplex with reclining leather seats and overpriced snacks.

Don't get me wrong, I love the convenience of the big chains, but I do wonder if we're hitting a point of saturation where people are actually craving that old-school, slightly gritty atmosphere again. Is it just nostalgia talking, or do you think the "boutique" theater model is actually sustainable for the long haul?
