I was watching a few shows over the weekend and it feels like every single comedy lately is leaning heavily into that weird, slightly unsettling vibe where you can't tell if the main character is actually a genius, a total lunatic, or just hallucinating.

It used to be that comedies were just... well, funny. Now, everything feels like it's trying to be "elevated" by adding this layer of social awkwardness or psychological instability. I don't mind a bit of character depth, but sometimes I just want to sit on my couch and watch people being funny without feeling like I'm watching a slow-motion train wreck of someone's mental health.

I find myself constantly questioning the characters' motives lately. Is this character actually being weird on purpose to mess with us, or is the show just trying to manufacture "quirkiness"? It's getting a little predictable.

Do you guys prefer when shows lean into that awkward, slightly off-kilter humor, or do you miss the days of straightforward sitcoms?
