So, I'm working on a video project and just stumbled upon Adobe Premiere Pro. I'm pretty much a total newbie when it comes to this software, but from what I've heard, the possibilities are endless. Now I'm wondering if anyone here actually uses it—and if you do, do you have an MSN or something so I can pick your brain? Honestly, I don't care how we communicate, even just replying right here in this thread is fine by me. I think I've mostly figured out the basics, but I'm totally lost when it comes to all those text effects and other random junk. For example, I'm trying to nail down a specific look for some text, something similar to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOn6r...=related. Any help would be huge. Thanks in advance.

I went ahead and tweaked the title just so we don't end up in a whole mess of confusion—we're talking Adobe Premiere Pro versus Adobe Premiere Pro.

Think of it as an alternative to iMovie.

Look, I get that they’ve definitely beefed up the software, but I’m still stuck on a few specific details.

This
video was put together using Adobe Premiere Pro.

And honestly, you can find a ton of tutorials on YouTube, just search for the program name 🙂

I'm still running Adobe Premiere Pro—never actually heard of the ninth version... 😕

It’s a solid enough program, though you really have to watch which file extensions you're messing with—otherwise, you'll just end up staring at a black screen...

(not to mention it costs an absolute fortune 😍)

More like affordable!😍

So, here’s the deal—I’m working on this video and you gotta check out this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuT5dAqJiCE. If you jump to the 3:15 mark, look at how he set up that mana/health bar—basically, this is the vibe I'm going for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBN3J...eature=related. Go to 1:40 and check out that green health bar in the bottom left. Does anyone have a link or some info on how to mask/cut that out?

It's a solid enough program, but you seriously have to watch which file extensions you're messing with, otherwise you'll just end up staring at a black screen for eternity...

I've got Adobe Premiere Pro and I'm running into a massive headache; it sounds totally ridiculous, but apparently, I can't work with the footage I transferred from my camera to my hard drive because I'm supposedly forced to import it directly from the camera onto the timeline in Adobe Premiere Pro. Basically, whenever I try to drag video files from my drive onto the timeline, the audio just refuses to show up...

What kind of camera are we talking about here?

Sony Handycam

I’m pretty sure I’m dealing with a codec issue because Adobe Premiere Pro isn't recognizing the audio type in this MPEG-2 file, even though I used to be able to drop these clips onto the timeline from my hard drive without a single hiccup back when I was running version 8.0.
There is absolutely no way I should have to transfer footage directly from the camera to Adobe Premiere...
It might just be a messy installation since I wiped out some extra files while uninstalling the older version, so there's a high probability that's where the glitch is coming from—who knows.

If anyone actually uses 9.0 and knows what they're doing, maybe throw some advice my way.

Adobe Premiere Pro supports way more codecs, so it really should be reading everything that version 8 could handle. If you’re sitting there wondering if the installation for version 9 actually went right, honestly, just try reinstalling it. That footage from the Sony Handycam isn't exactly optimized for editing, so getting hit with annoying little surprises like this? Yeah, nothing to be shocked about.

Appreciate the reply. I'll give the reinstall a shot, though I'm still scratching my head over this "not optimized for editing" thing. What kind of high-end rig or camera would actually handle this stuff without throwing a tantrum?
Thanks!👍

Douglas Reyes75 I don't even know where to start with this one. Honestly? It’s just another day in this digital circus. I’ve been staring at my screen so long I think my eyes are actually starting to fuse with the pixels. Just... wow. Is anyone else seeing this? Or am I just losing my mind in my own little bubble here? It feels like every time I think we've hit rock bottom with these tech headaches, someone finds a way to dig a deeper hole. It's exhausting. Truly. Anyway, here's what they're saying:
Thanks for the reply. I'll give the reinstall a shot, but I still don't get it... how exactly is this supposed to be "unoptimized" for editing? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Look, let's be real about this: every single consumer camera out there is basically just recording heavily compressed garbage. We’ve moved away from the old DV days and into this era of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compression. But here’s the catch—these formats aren't designed for actual editing; they're built for quick delivery. They work by grabbing chunks of frames and squeezing them together, which is a total nightmare for anyone trying to do legitimate editing that relies on independent frames. It's a mess. On top of that, trying to cut this stuff is a massive drain on your hardware. You're going to be absolutely hammering your CPU and GPU just to get through a basic timeline. It's exhausting.

Douglas Reyes75 said:What kind of camera would even allow for that level of footage processing?
Thanks!👍

Look, you can pretty much squeeze footage from almost any camera into an editor, but let’s be real—it’s never going to be seamless. You’re always going to run into some kind of headache or compromise along the way. Sometimes it’s a minor annoyance, sometimes it’s a total nightmare that ruins your workflow. Most of the time, yeah, it’s doable. But honestly? It all really boils down to how much software support you actually have. For instance, Adobe Premiere Pro should theoretically handle this stuff without breaking a sweat, but even then, you never know what kind of mess you're getting into.

hollowpuma762 said:Basically, all consumer cameras shoot with heavy compression. Newer models rely on MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 formats instead of the old DV standard, which means they're designed for quick delivery rather than actual editing. These codecs work by bunching multiple video frames together and squeezing them down, which is a total headache for editing since you really want those independent frames. Plus, they absolutely hammer your hardware—you’re going to be leaning hard on your CPU and GPU.

You can technically edit footage from pretty much any camera, but expect to deal with some level of compromise or technical friction, whether it's minor or a complete mess. It usually boils down to software support. Something like Adobe Premiere Pro should handle this stuff just fine.

Thanks a ton!
Cheers!

I grabbed the updated version of Adobe Premiere Pro 9.0b, and while the audio and video are finally showing up on the timeline, I'm getting hit by this old bug again and I have zero clue why. Basically, the program just crashes right in the middle of an edit and throws this error: Adobe Premiere Pro

This belongs in the crazy rants section of the forum... 🙄

Hey, Quote: Moby Master, chill out with how you're writing...

That’s like saying Grand Theft Auto IV is an alternative to Pinball... 🙏

Adobe Premiere Pro just dropped like three months ago... and honestly, Adobe Premiere Pro isn't even the same thing as Adobe Premiere Pro Studio 9... 🙂

Yeah... Adobe and Adobe Premiere are basically the gold standard for video editing. You'll see them being used by pretty much every major media company out there...
Honestly, if you just follow tutorials without thinking, you aren't actually gonna learn anything... 🙄

What's with this video someone posted? You could do way better work in iMovie... that's basically just a starter app for kids under ten... 🙏

Sorry for going off-topic... just had to get this out there... 😬
