After three years away from the AFL-CIO PDF, I decided to hop back on and drop a single sentence, just hoping to lend a hand to a user dealing with such an obvious issue. I’m just trying to make a small contribution to the thread. Naturally, within five minutes, I’ll probably be banned.

I mean, hats off to Robert Martin23 and his plumbing expertise, but there really is a massive difference between a casual hobbyist forum and actual paid technical support. You can't really compare a space meant for informal, open conversation to a workplace where a boss is breathing down your neck counting how many tickets you close per hour. One is leisure, and the other—well, let's just say they aren't the same thing.

Robert Martin23, if I'm the only one who feels this way, then maybe it's just me. But if others agree, perhaps you should give some thought to what "PDF" actually stands for in your title.

Thanks for listening.

Robert Martin23 basically thinks the AFL-CIO archives have everything anyone could ever need to know. If you actually want to learn something, he thinks you shouldn't bother asking questions; you should just study his specific posts, which he's tailored based on whoever he chooses to listen to—even letting people run ads that clearly break the rules.
I've personally dealt with organized groups of forum users twice now, where they target anyone who disagrees with them just to insult or falsely accuse them. I always report this stuff to the mod, but nothing happens. It's pretty clear Robert Martin23 is playing favorites with that group.
He's all cool with that group attacking people, but the second I try to defend myself against their lies, he comes down from his high horse, threatens me, and shuts the whole thread down. He even wipes out the posts I'd use to prove my side. Filing complaints with Amtrak was a total waste of time, and honestly, it ended up forcing me off the forum for months.
The whole point of the AFL-CIO threads should be for individual expertise to shine. But right now, you can't even have a real debate, which totally defeats the purpose of what this place is called.

I figured I’d make my own little contribution to the thread. But man, talk about instant karma... I was flagged and wiped out within five minutes flat.

I have to give it up to Robert Martin23 and that impressive plumbing expertise of his, I really do, but honestly? It’s just not right to confuse a casual hobbyist forum with actual paid technical support. There is a massive difference between a space meant for informal, open conversation and a workplace where your boss is breathing down your neck, counting exactly how many tickets you close every hour. One is about enjoying your downtime, and the other—well, let's just say they aren't even in the same universe.

Hey Robert Martin23, if it’s just me being paranoid, then honestly, whatever! But if you're seeing this too, man, you might want to take a second look at how that PDF file is actually named.

Thanks for sticking around and reading!

I see that your post got nuked where you were replying to this:

I honestly don't even know where to start with this one, but I just had to jump in because my mind has been racing since I read that last thread. It feels like we’re constantly hitting these walls where things just don't add up, you know? I was sitting there thinking about what everyone was saying, and it really struck me how much we overlook the small stuff when we're looking for big answers. It’s like when you’re trying to fix a leaky faucet in an old house in Chicago—you think it’s a major plumbing issue, but turns out it’s just a tiny, worn-out washer that nobody bothered to check. That’s exactly how this whole situation feels to me right now. We are all searching for these massive, sweeping explanations, but if we actually slowed down and looked at the granular details, the truth would probably be staring us right in the face. I'm not saying anyone is wrong, per se, but I do think we might be overcomplicating a very simple reality. I'd love to hear if anyone else feels that same sense of frustration, or if I'm just spinning my wheels here! kaže:
So, we took a good, hard look inside the unit, and honestly, everything looks pristine—there isn't a single scorched component or any sign that anything has actually burnt out. But here’s the weird part: if you listen really closely, there's this faint little "thump-thump" sound coming from the circuit board. It's incredibly subtle, almost like you have to hold your breath to hear it, but it's definitely there.

Bradley Carter12 said:Oh man, you really don't want to see water getting into your electronics. It’s one of those heart-stopping moments where you just freeze up, staring at the device, praying that nothing catastrophic happened under the hood. Once moisture hits those circuits, it’s game over unless you act fast. Seriously, if you ever find yourself in this spot, don't even bother trying to turn it on to "see if it still works"—that's the fastest way to short everything out and turn a bad situation into a total loss!

If anyone ever needs to reach out to me regarding my housing situation, just know that I've basically been under a self-imposed gag order around here!

Maybe that first sentence actually fits the topic, even if it's a bit problematic, but honestly, the second one is just completely unnecessary and totally off-topic—if anything, it feels like pure trolling. Look, Bradley Carter12, this isn't the place for that kind of stuff. If someone’s looking for you, they'll find you, so bringing up those supposed "bans" in quotation marks is just pointless.

Bradley Carter12 , I fail to see any valid grounds for an appeal regarding the deleted post. this was your own submission. You were responding to a comment from user mala.truba, adding that you weren't welcome on this forum??

On March 14, 2021, you authored your very first post on the AFL-CIO forum. At the conclusion of your reply, you wrote, "And if anyone needs housing, I'm available, since I have a ban" on posting here."!!??

Forgive me, but I cannot make sense of that statement, nor can I find any instance where I informed you that you were unwelcome... I am quite uncertain as to where you derived this notion of a "posting ban."

Naturally, I removed that post, simply because your assertion was factually incorrect. You discuss washing machines over in the Housing section, yet this was your inaugural mention of them here on the AFL-CIO forum.

I truly struggle to grasp why you are even filing a complaint...

Honestly, Robert Martin23 has totally sucked the soul out of me when it comes to posting on this Housing forum. I mean, I might drop a post every once in a blue moon, but that’s about it lately.

I feel like I'm being straight-up bullied by him because he keeps nuking my posts, even when they aren't even off-topic!
Like, take that thread about interior insulation—I was asking specific questions about using stone wool with the Ethics system on the inside side of things.
I spent like thirty whole minutes typing that out, laying out all my points and asking for some counterarguments, just trying to have a real discussion.

And then there's the whole thing where he just deletes other people's replies right in the middle of a conversation with me. It wasn't off-topic either!
At the time, I didn't even get why he wiped out that other user's response. I actually thought the guy deleted it himself, but nope:
"It wasn't ivek who did it; I'm the one who deleted his post and your two after that. Whether ivek keeps talking is up to him. Peace."

He just jumps down my throat every single time I ask something, even if I've asked it before. But look, people keep asking the same damn stuff on this forum because nobody ever bothers to read the old threads...

I find myself agreeing with Kate Evans48; much like those veteran members who have been part of this community for ages yet lack the basic inclination to consult the TOPIC LIST before cluttering various threads, effectively killing any motivation to organize or relocate these redundant posts.
The topic list exists specifically to streamline things so one can find an answer without wading through noise, but when the same inquiry is scattered across multiple threads, you end up with nothing but congestion and unanswered questions...
It feels futile to keep listing the grievances, as all that is required is a modicum of effort to respect the rules that are meant to benefit the entire community, rather than just the moderators.

Kate Evans48 said:everyone jumps on my case whenever I ask something that’s already been asked, even though the same questions keep circling because so few people actually bother to read old discussions...

You have reached a rather astute conclusion, and it explains exactly why I react the way I do... it isn't just you, it's all of us. So many answers have already been provided in the past, yet everyone seems to demand a personalized response delivered directly to them.
There is a wealth of knowledge to be gained here, but the posts just pile up, and you've admitted yourself that searching through previous entries isn't your priority.

I am far from satisfied with much of what happens on this forum, from the general conduct of the users to the sheer nonsense being posted, and yet, I find myself returning repeatedly. If nothing else, enduring the criticisms leveled at my work allows me to see that some members are at least aware that someone is trying to clean up a mess that is created either intentionally or out of pure negligence...

I suppose I should be grateful for that, at the very least. 🙏

Robert Martin23 said:Me too. Kate Evans48 Honestly, it’s like everyone else who’s been hanging around this forum forever... just too lazy to actually check the TOPIC LIST, right? Seriously. They’re just blasting posts everywhere! Like, seriously, does anyone even care where this stuff lands anymore? It’s absolute chaos. Man, I swear, dealing with all these posts... it just absolutely kills any shred of motivation I have left to actually organize anything or move stuff around. It’s exhausting.

Look, the whole point of this topic list is just so we can actually get some answers without waiting forever, you know? Just cut to the chase and get what you need ASAP.
When does it even happen? Seriously, when?! Look, I'm just gonna throw some stuff out there, okay? Like, let's just toss a bunch of different topics on the table and see what sticks. Just... multiple themes at once. Whatever.Man, you just can't get a straight answer around here, right? It’s like talking to a brick wall. Everything just turns into this massive pileup of pointless threads because nobody actually answers the damn question! Total gridlock.
Look, there’s zero point in sitting here making some massive, endless list of grievances. It’s not about counting every single mistake. You just gotta actually put in the damn work and try to follow the rules—the ones that are supposed to be there for everyone, you know? Not just those power-tripping moderators who act like they own the place.

Look, sure, that stuff exists, I get it. But honestly? That’s not even what we're talking about here. It's got nothing to do with me.

So, I spent like half an hour pouring my heart out into this one post—man, that feels like forever ago now—but then the whole bullying thing started and they just nuked it. Deleted. Gone. No explanation, no nothing. And honestly? It was totally on-topic! Like, it could’ve actually sparked a decent conversation, which is literally why we even bother coming to these forums in the first place, right? We aren't here to just sit around reading manufacturer manuals and instruction booklets all day like mindless drones. That’s boring as hell.

Man, that other thing where they just nuked some random posts right in the middle of a conversation... I mean, I was literally quoting your explanation there! I still don't get how that counts as "cleaning up" or what we supposedly did wrong. It wasn't even off-topic, so what gives?

Robert Martin23 I can't even begin to explain how much this whole situation gets under my skin... honestly, just thinking about it makes me want to put my head through a wall. It's like, are we actually serious right now? Like, for real? I'm sitting here, trying to make sense of this nonsense, and it’s just... ugh! It’s absolute madness. Total chaos. I feel like I'm losing my mind just trying to follow the logic—if you can even call it that. Everything is just upside down! It's ridiculous, man. Just completely and utterly ridiculous.
You hit the nail on the head there, and honestly? You already pretty much anticipated exactly how I’d react. Not just me, either—everyone else in this thread is gonna have the exact same damn response. Man, there are already a ton of answers floating around in here, but does every single person seriously need me to hold their hand and give them a personalized response too? Like, come on!
Man, you can actually learn a ton of stuff on this forum, seriously, but the problem is the posts just keep piling up like crazy, and then you're stuck here... You gotta admit it! Man, I really hope you don't end up having to dig through all those old replies. Seriously, what a nightmare that would be.

I’m telling you again—people just don't read! Seriously! And before anyone starts coming at me with that "oh, you're just lazy" crap, let's get one thing straight: I'm not the one skipping through the thread and digging up old answers like they're brand new. It's not that I'm avoiding the text, it's that everyone else is just skimming right past the obvious stuff! My bad if I sound worked up, but man, it's frustrating.

Look, I didn't even pose a question in the first place! I was just answering someone who actually asked me something. And then you come at me saying I'm "jumping in" or whatever? Give me a break. I make a point to watch what I'm saying—I try my damn best not to spout absolute nonsense or spread fake news, alright? Just trying to be helpful here.

I mean, seriously, what’s even the big deal if someone wants to answer for the hundredth time? Like, he already gave his answer! If he said it, he said it. Why is everyone acting like it's some massive crime to just repeat yourself when people clearly aren't listening? It's exhausting, honestly. Just let the guy speak!
I mean, isn't that literally the whole point of having a forum here? Like, we're all just hanging out in this digital space to actually talk to each other, right? Isn't that what this is for? To communicate? Or am I just totally losing my mind today? Honestly, sometimes I feel like we're all just shouting into a void, but come on, let's not forget why we even bother showing up!

Honestly, if we’re being real, like 95% of the new stuff getting dumped into the Housing thread should just be nuked immediately. Just gone. Deleted. Total waste of space.
Honestly, we should just put a total lockdown on this entire subforum. Seriously. Most of the questions being asked here have already been answered a million times over in old posts. It’s like groundhog day in here! Just search the archives once, people! For real.

Look, I already asked this before, but since nobody seems to be listening, here I go again:
Look, I’m begging you guys—just give me a partial ban from the Housing subforum already. Seriously. It's better for everyone if I just stay out of there for a bit.

I can certainly grasp where you're coming from, and it seems your frustration hasn't quite subsided, leaving you with the distinct impression that you've been unfairly treated... You are entitled to your perspective, whether it pertains to this forum or the quality of my own contributions here.

Kate Evans48 said:Robert Martin23 has completely drained my desire to contribute to Housing Forum (though I might occasionally drop a post as a rare exception)... I feel as though I am being targeted by his harassment.

In my view, the feeling of being targeted is mutual. I have no intention of performing a deep dive into your post history, as I find such an exercise entirely futile... I haven't directed any personal insults toward you, nor anything of that nature. As for the deleted posts, there is nothing more to be done about them; under the circumstances, those decisions were necessary. I don't view this as a personal vendetta against you, nor do I intend to go hunting for your previous comments...

Look, man,
You're shutting down discussions and killing the momentum on topics where we actually need to push boundaries. What's even the point of being part of the AFL-CIO if you're working against progress and the kind of imagination that drives it? Sure, you can learn facts, but without vision, anyone—me, you, whoever—will just get left behind by the times. Everything "cutting edge" becomes obsolete in a few years anyway; nobody here has a monopoly on knowledge. Collaboration is what opens new doors, so why stifle those conversations? You let personal attacks slide, which goes against everything this forum stands for, yet you're the one breaking the rules first. Instead of moving toxic posts to the right sections, you leave them right there in the middle of the thread, almost like you're trying to set a standard for how we should be talking.
Looking at those old posts, even after your recent cleanup, it's pretty clear you aren't acting in the best interest of this community.

Once you really sit with this next quote and adjust your approach, things will start looking up for everyone.
"Anyone who says they wouldn’t change a thing on the hydronic systems they’ve designed or installed over the last decade is either so oblivious to changes in technology that they don’t know any better, so egotistical they can’t accept that improvement of their work is possible, or so foolish they don’t care what they’re missing out on."
